• The Coming Of The Lord

  • A quote from Jesus Robles Resto (2012)

John wrote to the 7 churches to warn them what Christ said, "I will come quickly; I will come as a thief; Behold I come quickly; Behold I stand at the door.
We know that after the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple was burn down in year AD 70, the gospel spread around the nation and the churches grew.
Many churches was established more than 7, the gospel increase in those days, there were churches everywhere after AD 70.
John was not writing to churches after AD 70, but on contrary he was writing to the 7 churches that existing in those days before AD 70.
John wrote does say the Lord to the 7 churches, an angel came to him and show him the things which must be hereafter, than mean the thing that he show him was not yet happening but it will happen very soon.
I believe John wrote the book of revelation in the isle of Patmos around the year AD 68 when Nero banished him before committing suicide, as stated in the title of the Syriac Version of the Book and there God sent his angel and shew him those thing to the 7 Churches that existing in those time before the destruction of Jerusalem and before the temple was burn down in pieces.

Revelation 22:6,7,10,12,16,20 gives warning of his coming:

    6. The angel shew John the things which must shortly be done.
    7. John wrote what Jesus was saying to the 7 churches, "Behold I come quickly; blessed is he that keepeth the saying of the prophecy of this book."
    10. The angel said, "Seal not the saying of the prophecy of this book; for the time is at hand."
    12. And behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, to give every man according to his work shall be.
    16. Jesus have sent his angels to testify unto John these thing in the seven churches, "I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star."
    20. He which testify these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Again, John was writing to the 7 churches in those days to let them know that Jesus Christ will come quickly, and that he is at hand, and that the things that God's angel show John which must shortly be done will come to pass.

In the beginning of the book of Revelation 1:1,3 John wrote that this thing will shortly come to pass:

    1. The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew into his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John.
    3. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein; for the time is at hand.

God was not letting the 7 churches know that the things he is showing to them will happen or come to pass thousand of years, but on contrary the time is at hand and must shortly come to pass.
Shortly mean shortly; and the time is at hand mean the time is at hand.
How shortly? how long is at hand?
I have family living over the sea, and each year I go for vacation to the Island of Puerto Rico to visit my relative.
After I return from the Island they miss me and after 6 months pass because they miss me so much they call me and ask me when I am going again to the Island and visit them.
I respond, "I will come to shortly as soon I do this and that and everything is well in order."
They get happy to know that soon I will come and they will see me again.
But they don't know exactly when I will arrive, but they do know that shortly or soon I will arrive.

When God said shortly must come to pass he is talking about what is going to happen soon but still the day and time of the arrival is unknown, but we do know that it will be soon.
Shortly for God can be few days or few months or few years, but not thousand of years, not for those people who live in those time because none of them will be alive to see his coming neither will they live long to see it.
The message was giving to them and not to us, shortly is a timing arrival visit of the Lord for that generation and not for some future of generations.

Therefore John was writing to the 7 churches before the year AD 70 to warn them to prepared themselves because the time of his arrival is at hand, the thing which he shew to his servant what must shortly come to pass will come to pass and then he will arrive with his angels and he will send his angels to gather his chosen ones and deliver them out of the wrath of God, which will come to that generation.

History has record this event and we have book written by witness that saw this thing happen in those days.
According to a witness by the name of Josephus he wrote a book called, "The war of the Jews."
In his book he wrote that Jerusalem was destroyed by the Roman's soldiers, and the temple was burn down in pieces, and miraculously all Christians Jews fled safely before the destruction that came upon that city and upon their people.
He stated that all the words of Jesus Christ came to pass, his words was fulfill letter by letter.

I believe Jesus' words of his coming and the wall of the city of Jerusalem coming down in pieces and the temple burn down in pieces, all of this things did come to passed and was fulfilled in the year AD 70. Amen.
