Think Big
Greater Of All Is Love
Today October 14, 2010, I awoke up from the sofa bed and as I was meditating in my dream that I had last night something wonderful happen.
The Lord God of Israel, my Father from heaven, who sent Jesus Christ his son to die for our sin and who rose up from the grave and is seating at the right hand of God, show me a room full of books, above all the books that was hidden in this secret room, I was draw close to a special book that was on top of a table, I could not see very well the title of the book until I was draw more closer to the book to see it clearly and read it with ease, the title of the book was called, "Think Big."
The Lord had put into my heart to write this book, he reveals his word to me and I write it, discern it if it is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
God's thoughts are Big and he wants his children to Think Big Thoughts too.
After I woke up from my dream, the Lord began to show me in the scripture his Big Thoughts of blessing for Abram.
What Big Thoughts of blessing was given to Abraham?
In the book of Genesis chapter 12:1-3; God said to Abram, I will make your name great and you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you; and in you (Abram) shall all the families of the earth be blessed."
God bless Abraham and make him very rich in cattle, in silver and in Gold.
Not only God bless him by making him rich but also God protect him from Pharaoh wrath (Genesis 12:10-20; 13:1-3).
God does not stop there, Lot who went with Abraham, the Lord God also bless him with a large of flocks, herds, and tents.
And the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together; for their herds were so large that they could not dwell together that they (Abraham and Lot) separate themselves (Genesis 13:4-9).
God deliver Abraham from Pharaoh and gave him victory over the raiders who carried Lot, Abraham's brother's son, who dwells in Sodom.
Abram return with Lot and with all the spoil of war.
And the King of Sodom went out to meet him and Melchizedek king of Salem who was the priest of the Most High God, brought bread and wine and bless Abraham.
And Abraham gave to the king of Salem [the high priest] tithes, the tenth of everything from the spoils of war.
Then what was left from the spoil of war he gave it to the king of Sodom because it belong to him, but the king of Sodom did not wanted the Goods spoils of war, he wanted the people.
Abraham knew better than this and he was wise in his respond to the King of Sodom, Abraham said to the king, “I have lifted up my hands to the God Most High, the possessor of heaven and earth, that I will not take of anything that belongs to you, from the thread to a shoestring, lest you should say, I have made Abram rich.”
Save that which the young men have eaten and the portion of the men who went with him, Aber, Eshcol, and Mamre; Abraham said, let them take their portions.
Abram gave all the spoil of war back to the people, and he did not take anything for him. [Genesis 14:20-24].
You see in those days many Kings were at war and the valey of
Siddim was full of bitumen pits; and the king of Sodom fled, and fell there; and those who survived fled to the mountain and the enemies took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, all their provisions, and went their way and took with them Lot captive, Abraham's brother's son, who dwelt in Sod'om and carried away his good and departed.
And when Abraham heard what happen to his brother's son, he armed his trained servants pursued them unto Dam and his servant smote the enemies and brought back his brother's son (Lot), and his goods, and the goods of all the kings.
Abraham came back from the war and he brought with him all the goods spoils of war.
When King of Sodom heard of Abraham's victory, he went out to meet him.
The king of Salem Melchizedek receive from the spoil of war the tenths of everything.
The King's goods Abraham recovers it and he gave it back to them.
When a king defeats the enemies and the goods spoils of war is taken, according to the law on those day the victorious were require to give from the spoil of war only 1 percent.
But Abraham Gave the tenth parts to the King of Salem and the tenth parts was not a demand, neither a requirement, nor a commandment of the Lord that we know of to give it, but still Abraham gave the tenth parts of the good spoils of war to Melchizedek the King of Salem when the law required only to give from the spoil of war 1 percent.
But the tenth parts that Abraham gave to the king of Salem did not come out from his riches that God blessed him with after he came out from Egypt, no, no brother, but from the spoil of war.
Abram gave to the King of Salem the tenths of all the good from the spoil of war, the other 90 percent of the spoil of war, the young men ate some of them and the men which went with Abram took their portion and what was left from the spoil of war he gave it back to the king of Sodom.
Therefore Abram gave all the spoil of war back to the owners and took none for him.
According to the scripture in Hebrews 7:2: it says, Abraham gave a tenth part of all to Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God.
Remember Abram has just arrived from the camp of the enemy and with him brought back all the goods that was taken from the Kings.
But Abram did not gave from all his personal goods, no brother but from the spoil of war.
How I know this because in Hebrews 7:4 tell us more from where: Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
Therefore it is from the spoil of war Abram gave a tenth part of all.
What God blessed Abram with: in cattle, in silver and in Gold these abundance God did not require of him to tithes.
Abraham riches and increase of the land was a promise of God to him, it was his Big Thoughts for Abraham.
Again, from the riches of his cattle, and of his golds, and of his silvers he did not tithes.
People of God remember in Abraham days there was no law that require any person to tithe from all the increase of the land, not until Moses's law came alive and require of it.
For more input about if we suppose to tithes role down to the middle, maybe a little more down of the page until you find the tithe called: THE TITHES?
Therefore Abram's blessing was God Big Thoughts for him and for all his children's children, from generation to generations.
God's blessing is pass on to us the believers through Christ Jesus Our Lord.
We serve a good God, when he makes a promise, he keeps it and he change not.
God Big Thoughts was to come to Abram's wife and open her womb and she was able to give birth to a male child and Abraham name his child Isaac who also sowed in the land of the Philistines.
God protects Isaac from Abimeleck king of the Philistines and blesses him in that land and received in the same year a hundredfold; and Isaac became great, and went forward and grew until he became very great.
The bible said that Isaac had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and much wealth that the Philistines envied him.
Abimeleck, king of the Philistines said to Isaac, “Go away from among us; for you are much mightier than we” (Genesis 26:1-16).
There is no record in the bible that tell us that Isaac was required to give tithe, nor can you find any scripture whatsoever that says that Isaac gave tithe from everything God bless him with.
When God is by your side there is no man that can stand before you; If God is for you who can be against you.
No man will be able to stand before you because God will lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that you shall tread.
God will cause those who come against you to surrender defeating before you, they shall come out against you by one way and fee before you by seven ways.
God promise to those who love him, your enemy will fall before you by the sword (of the Spirit), and thousand shall fall by your side and ten thousands at your right hand but none of them will come near you.
Only with your eyes you shall behold and see the reward of the wicked.
All the people of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord and they shall be afraid you, because the one who is in you: The Father, his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost is greater than the devil and all his followers that is in the world of darkness.
God said, in every place the sole of your foot shall tread upon, it shall be yours and you will success and prosper wherever you go.
God will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you (because you are Abraham's son, his descendants and heirs according to the promise) and because of you, all the family of the earth will be blessed.
God said to Abraham, nothing will be impossible to you, he promised to Abraham, and he kept his promise.
God said that he will watch over his word to do it, he will make it come to pass (Genesis 12:3; Exodus 23:20-28; Leviticus 26:1-8; Deuteronomy 11:23-26; 28:1-13; Joshua 1:3,7-9; Psalms 91:1-16; Galatians 3:13,14,29).
God was with Isaac and blesses Isaac and multiply his descendants because God promise it to his servant Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3; Genesis 26:24).
The Lord was faithful to Isaac until the end just the same way he was faithful with his father Abraham.
Isaac was blessed abundantly.
Now there another thing God show me in the scripture, God's Big thoughts for the New Testament believers who the law of the Spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus has made them free from the law of sin and death, is to love one another and to lay up for yourselves a treasure in heaven..
Here where I am going to emphasizes God's Big Thoughts: Love one another and laying up a treasure in heaven.
The teaching is not base how to make any man rich or wealthy but how to be move with love to help and share your abundance, your riches with other who lack daily needs.
Many people have problem hearkening and submitting themselves to God's voice because they are to attach to their riches and material things of this world, it is so hard for them to let it go and lay up for themselves a treasure in heaven.
For what purpose we are to lay up treasure in heaven?
Even thou Jesus spoke those word before he die on the cross, still his word does not change and is in motion today for he wants us to continue to love one another and care for one another and that mean always doing good deeds from the heart.
God expect all of us to hearken to his word and to put him first and depend on him and never let money or riches or wealth blind you to the point that you can not see anymore far off the kingdom of heaven.
Money should not be the Lord and source of your life.
God wants his people to be willing and able to do anything he ask you to do for the sake of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the gospel and for the sake of the children of God.
You abundance should be a blessing to the poor and to the body of Christ equally.
God's riches is not for luxury, neither for you to become wealthy.
The blessing of the Lord belong to all the people of God equally.
And when you deposit you riches and wealth in heaven it will give hope to many who are in necessity.
According to Matthew 6:19-21; and Luke 12:33-34 Jesus state: Laying a treasure in heaven is to sell your possessions, for what purpose?
The purpose to put the money in the bank?
No, the purpose is to give them as alms to the poor.
Laying a treasure in heaven is to deposit into people true needs.
The teaching is base on God's Big Thoughts that belong to all his believers.
For it please God to bless his people equally.
You may ask, “What is the point here?”
The point here is that God's Big Thoughts about giving alms to the poor is to show equality and his love, he love all of us the same and he wants us to love our neighbors as ourselves in deed and in truth.
God bless us abundantly so that we can show other we care and want to help them and that seeing them happy makes you happy too; and their joy is your joy too.
God expects of us to think first of other before ourselves.
According to Jesus Christ and the apostle Paul, they believe having abundance is a great opportunity to give, share and to help one another.
The word that Jesus Christ spoke came from his Father of heaven, he gave it to him, for the Father tell him what to say and what to speak.
Jesus said, "It is more blessing to give than to receive" (Act 20:35).
Those word was giving by his Father for us to hearken and to practice it daily.
The word that Paul spoke to the church came also from the Father of heaven.
Paul exhorted the church that God require equality at this particular time.
Any man who has abundance can divide it equally if he love the Lord and his neighbors as well.
Loving the Lord and your neighbor is the fulfillment of the law.
Bringing your money and placed them at the disposal of man of God is something you will do if you have possessions or land and etc, in those time the proceeds of receiving those alms were given to every man according to his needs, but never to make any man rich (Acts 4:34-35; 2Corithians 8:14).
People might say in the new Testament this was done in the beginning of the ministry and after that no one else gave the same way ever again but it was done away and it is not for us to do today.
I disagree, the proceeds of receiving and giving did not stop there with Christ's disciple in the beginning of their ministry, it is still in operation today and the Lord does not have any intention to change it, but he still stand on his word and his word will continue to remain forever.
I will say to you again, you are wrong.
Act 2:44,45 and 4:32-37 after the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and won many souls for God, these people from the possessions of fields and houses that they sold brought all the money and place them in the disposal of the disciples and they gave it to every man according to his needs.
And if this proceeds of receiving and giving was stop it was stop because of greedy and selfish rich people who were proud and trusted in the uncertainty riches more than God.
And that is why Paul wrote to Timothy saying to him to charge those who are rich in this world that they be not proud neither trust in the uncertainty of their of riches, but in the living God, who gives us all things so abundantly for our comfort and to do good works and become rich in good deeds, and be ready to give and willing to share and to lay up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, and to lay hold upon true life.
Paul instruct them not to stop but to continue in doing good work and become rich in good deeds, therefore Christ words and the example of Peter and Paul letter to the church exhort the rich people to continue caring and providing the poor needs, this loving action of giving and laying up treasure in heaven did not stop in their ministry neither should we stop now just because some selfish and greedy people think or believe the opposite [1 Timothy 6:17-19].
Just in case you don’t understand what I am saying let me put it in words that a child can understand it.
If God bless you with riches and wealth is not for you to become stingy and greedy, but it is an opportunity for you to show your love and a responsibility toward God, and toward his word to fulfill it.
If you think to be rich is to have money in the bank and spend it for greedy lavish things you don't really need, sorry to disappoint you, but Jesus said, you are not rich in the things of God.
If being rich means to you to keep 10% or perhaps to keep 90% of it and the rest you donate it to the church or to the poor, sorry to tell you, you still don't have any idea what it is to be rich in the things of God.
Being rich in the things of God is to be willing to lay up a treasury in heaven, in another word, willing to help, provide and share with other all your riches.
It might be hard for you to lay up for yourselves a treasure in heaven for the sake of Christ and for the sake of the gospel, but if you do it, then it will be easy for you to enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Let me ask you a question, do you trust God?
If you trust God then why you hesitate in giving and sharing everything with the poor?
Why are you afraid to give and share with the poor, do you think God will forget about you and that you will end up suffering wants?
God does not works that way, God will never abandon those who trust him.
Doubt and fear will never let you see far off and if you can't see far off, then it will be impossible for you to see the Kingdom of heaven and enter.
If you resist God's word then the devil will never flee from you, and your riches will be of no benefited to you, and even if you should gain the whole world at the end you will lose your soul? (Matthew 16:26; 19:16-26).
It will be impossible for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God if he is not willing to love his neighbors (Matthew 19:21-24).
It would be better off not to have riches and wealth than to have them and not willing to be rich in the things of God.
Trusting the Lord is to lay up for yourselves a treasure in heaven where it is safe and where thief do not break through and steal.
If you trust the Lord then believe also his word.
Listen, Jesus said to his disciples and to a large number of people that was listening to him, "do not worry neither be anxious or say, what will we eat or what will we drink, or with what will we be clothed?
For worldly people seek after all these things.
For your Father in heaven knows that all these things are also necessary for you.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will look after itself. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble."
Look here Jesus said, Do not be afraid, O little flock; for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.
Sell your possession and give them as alms; make for yourselves purses which do not wear out, and a treasure in heaven that does not run short, where the thief does not come near, and moth does not destroy.
For where your treasure is, there also will be your heart.
Let your girdle be fastened on your loins, and you lamps lighted (Matthew 6:31-33; Luke 12:29-35).
How about if you are ready to give and willing to share and then you lose all your wealth what would be of you?
Jesus' Father knows what is necessary for you, don's worry nor be anxious for nothing, but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and whatever you need shall be added to you [Luke 12:22-34].
By selling your possession and give them as alms to the poor and following Jesus and trusting him, you will not be forsake, he will take care of you in the time of needs and be with you wherever you go.
Apostle Paul said, "God will supply all your need according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ."
I could hear someone saying, this is a hard thing to do, and you know what, you are absolutely right, it is hard and difficult for you because you don't trust God enough to believe that he is able to help you in the time of needs.
If you love your neighbors, then you should care to help them supply their need for this is Jesus' ways of perfection.
Don't love mammoth more than God, but love and honor God by giving to the needs of others [Matthew 6:24].
The scripture state that those who gives generously and cheerfully God will supply all their needs according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ.
Heaven and earth will pass away but his word will never pass away.
Jesus says, he is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Therefore believe and obey what the scriptures says and you will success and prosper wherever you go.
Whatever you need he will added to you if you believe his saying.
Don't base your security in your riches and wealth, but in the freedom of faith in God.
If this is too much to handle and it annoying you, then be ready to handle the consequences that come with it.
Let me ask you another question, do you believe the apostle Paul was a man of God inspire by the Holy Ghost to write all his epistle in order to exhort, comfort and edify the church?
If you answer is yes, then listen to what the Spirit says, "Charge those who are rich in the world that they be not proud, nor trust in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who gives us all things so abundantly for our comfort.
That they (the rich people in the world) do good works, and become rich in good deeds, and be ready to give and willing to share.
Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold upon the true life.
The Spirit is saying to the rich people of the world to become rich in good deed, how?
By hearken to the second commandments of Jesus Christ: love your neighbor as yourselves.
Loving your neighbors is to help, serve, give, and share your riches with them equally.
Paul exhort the church to those who have to give, that he does not intended to relieve other men and add a burden to those who can't give, but that your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance may be a supply for your want, that there may be equality at this particular time (2 Corinthians 8:14).
Paul in 2 Corinthians 9:5, he exhort the church to have ready in advance the blessing of which you have long ago been notified, that you might have them as a blessing and not as though it were force on you. Paul did not force anyone one to give because is obvious when a person is born again and walk in Jesus Christ's path, he love his neighbor and voluntarily he wants to help provide their need too.
Paul expect the church of Corinth to give generously and cheerfully because it is welcome as a fragrant perfume and a sacrifice acceptable and well pleasing to God.
If you still have a problem listen and hearken to the scriptures, which is an inspiration of the Holy Spirit then there nothing else anyone can do for you, you are on your own, may God have mercy on your selfish and greedy souls.
Don't misunderstand me there is nothing wrong in providing your family needs and your own needs too as long selfishness and greediness does not bind you to love money more than God.
Every body else outside of the family circle, your neighbors should be very important to you, if not, unfortunately and sadly to say you will have to give an account to God of all of your selfishness and greediness deeds you have done on earth.
You will be no more different to that rich man who left very sad and disappointed because Jesus Christ told him to sells his possessions and give the money to the poor.
The rich man thoughts that he has obey God's commandments but unfortunately Jesus saw in his heart that he has missed one Commandment: To love his neighbor as himself; he choose not to become perfect, he became depressed and walks away from Jesus (Matthew 19:16-24).
Jesus Christ was trying to teach the rich man something very important that will take him up to a higher level of perfection.
But he refuse to climb that ladder of perfection.
God's perfection is to love one another in deed and in true.
Remember here we are talking about God's Big Thoughts, to love God above all and to love your neighbors as yourselves and laying up for yourselves a treasure in heaven.
Now if having abundance of wealth has withdraw you away from helping the poor people, then according to the scripture you are loving and honoring and serving Mammoth (riches / wealth; money), and your hate and dishonor and don't serve God [Matthew 6:24].
King Solomon a great man in his time who God said will never be another man after him appeared to him in a vision and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.”
And Solomon said to the Lord, “…give me now wisdom and knowledge that I may go out and come in before this people that is so great.”
What did the Lord say to him? He said, “Because this was in your mind, and you have not asked riches, honor, nor the life of your enemies, neither have you asked for long life; but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may judge my people over whom I have made you king; also the things for which you have not asked will I grant to you.
And I will give you wisdom and knowledge, wealth, riches, and honor, such as none of the king have had that have been before you, neither shall there any after you have the like” (2Chronicles 1:7-12).
Solomon thoughts please God and the result of this thoughts God bless him with more, he gave him: wisdom, knowledge, wealth, riches, and honor .
Solomon a great king just like his father David, both of them wrote books: Psalms and Proverbs and Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon.
Their books teaches that riches and wealth is a blessing and a gift of God and that it is something you rejoice in your labor (Ecclesiastes 5:19).
According to Eastern traditions when wealth is acquired by means of labor and justice, it is a blessing from God.
Most Easterners would never wait for God to bless them, but they acquired it by confiscation and unjust methods, in order to lie and steal the money of the people, but the bible said it is a curse.
There are people that bless themselves simply by unjustly acquiring property belonging to the poor.
There are teachers and evangelists who love to deceit the people of God with their lie.
They love cleverness and use deceiving words in order to convince people to give for their amiss.
And many who has believe their saying has fallen into their traps making them rich and wealthy.
The sooner they are blest the better it is. But the bibles said, it is a curse.
Nothing in this world is hidden in the eyes of God but soon or later they will have to answer to God for every evil words they have said and done to the body of Christ.
Men should be content with the labor of their own hands and satisfied with what God has given them in order to avoid the pride of material things.
The scripture said, "Give me neither poverty nor riches; give me life sufficient; when God giving you food is convenient for you." (proverbs 30:8).
There another thing that God teaches us not to do to the poor people, in James 2:6; it says, “but you have despise the poor whom God has chosen to be rich in faith, to be heirs of the kingdom which God has promised to those who love him, but you have despise them to show preference to evil thought, you prefer the rich people.”
God condemn that kind of thinking.
Listen to God, he is the voice of reason, God can allow you to get rich because being rich is a gift of God (Ecclesiastes 5:19) and a great responsibility; and in the book of 1 Timothy 6:17-19 and Matthew 6:19-34 it tells us what to do with the riches and wealth, it says: Lay up for yourselves a treasure in heaven, where neither rust nor moth destroys and where the thieves do not break through and steal.
God expect us to give all for the purpose to help provide the needs of the poor for this is how we lay up all our riches and wealth in the kingdom of heaven.
Again why God wants us to lay up a treasure in the kingdom of heaven?
First reason is, so you can see far off the kingdom of heaven and enter in.
Second reason is, to please God.
Third reason is, he wants you to lay up in store for yourselves a good foundation against the time come, and to lay hold upon the true life.
Fourth reason is, for he the one who gives us all things for our comfort.
God does not want man to serve him and mammon at the same time (mammon mean wealth).
God does not want man to be a lover of money because the love of money is the roots of all evil.
He wants man to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and then the rest he will take care of it and added to you.
God gives us all things so abundantly for our comfort but also he gives us so abundantly for us to be ready to give and willing to share .....
We have to understand money is not whom we serve first, we serve God and our heart should be always prepare to be a servant ready for his master use.
Paul teach us to have the mind of Christ and the mind of Christ guide the believers to care one another.
If we follow his direction of the Spirit and do them then God's new covenant laws will bless us and give us all things so abundantly for our comfort, so we can continue to give more for the Glory of God.
Don't get proud neither trust in the uncertainty of riches.
Don't gather food and stored up for many years to come for yourself and for your family; that is not what Jesus wants you to think of first, but his Big Thought for you is to become rich in the things of God .
Any person who gather abundance and stored up for many years to come for himself and for his family, according to the scripture this person is not rich in the things of God (Luke 12:16-21; 1Timothy 6:7-19).
People should be taught to do good works in the time of emergency, that they be not unfruitful, for it is how we become the sons of Highest (Titus 3:14; Luke 6:27-38).
The main key here is to be ready and to be willing.
This is how we grow and mature in his love.
If you don’t follow this principal of the new covenant law you will be in a big mess.
If you continue to increase your wealth by usury and unjust means, it is written: at the end God says, you shall leave it to the righteous man who is kind to the poor.
God will make sure your wealth will go to the hand of the righteous men who is willing to share with the poor people.
God's new covenant law is to love one another and it is true and his word will never pass away.
God has said it and his word will go forth and his word shall return not to him void, but his word will do what God has said and his word will accomplish that for which God sent it (read Proverbs 28:8; 13:22).
If you abide in God's love, you are born again and you know the Father and the Father and his son Jesus Christ will love you too, and whatever you ask shall be done for you [John 14:21; 15:7; 1 John 4:7].
In the book of Proverbs 28:8; those who give to the poor is rich in the eyes of God.
In Psalms 41:1-3; David the king of Israel said, “blessed is the man who looks after the poor; the Lord will deliver him in times of trouble.
The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive and he shall bless him upon the earth; he will not deliver him into the hands of his enemies.
The Lord will strengthen him upon his sick bed; he will wholly recover from his illness.”
This is God promises to his people who trust him and believe in his saying.
Solomon, son of David added more to it in his book of Proverbs, “he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he; and he who oppress the poor provokes his Maker; and the Lord will plead their cause and avenge the injustice which is done to them, but he who honors the Lord has mercy on the needy.”
Solomon also add this, a man who has pity and give to the poor, lend to the Lord (another word he is a companion of the Lord) and he is a righteous man (Proverbs 14:21,31; 22:22-24; 28:27; 29:7).
David as well his son Solomon preaches strongly about being rich is not the main thing here, but the poor people are.
Because if riches was considered to be important then why Solomon did not asks God in the beginning for riches instead of wisdom and knowledge?
If Solomon for some reason miss to follow his own advise is because greediness has blinding his eyes but this does not change the mind of God, he wants us to give and share always.
God's knowledge and wisdom teaches us the important of thinking of other.
Man can use the knowledge and wisdom of God for good purpose or for evil purpose; it all depend of him.
Being rich is a gift of God but also it is great responsibility and you must give an account to God for what you have done with it.
Man can think Big thoughts that is productive or man can think small thoughts that is not productive; which one are you going to choose?
Again what is the use to have abundance of riches if you are not ready to give neither willing to share it?
Any rich person who does not have a good heart toward his neighbor are worst than any sinners.
These people are exactly the same picture of the rich man who came to Jesus to ask him a question about life eternal.
In the book of Mark 10:17-23; the rich man say to Jesus, “what shall I do to inherit life eternal?”
Jesus said to him, “…you know the commandments? Do not commit adultery.
Do not steal, Do not murder, Do not bear false witness, Do not oppress, Honor your father and your mother.”
But the rich man answered and said to Jesus, “Teacher, all of these I have obeyed from my boyhood.”
Again it is exactly the same picture of those who think they are follower of Christ Jesus.
Jesus Christ looked at him (he discern his heart), and he said to the rich man, “you lack one thing; go, sell everything you have and give it to the poor, and you shall have a treasure in heaven; and take up your cross and follow me.”
But the rich man felt so sad because of this saying, and he went away depressed; for he had great wealth.
The rich man refuse to listen and to take up his cross and follow Jesus.
Then Jesus looked at his disciples and said to them, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter into the kingdom of God!”
Wow! How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter into the kingdom of God.
Remember the rich man was the one who asked Jesus, “What shall I do to inherit life eternal?”
But the rich man thought that he had obeyed the whole law from his boyhood.
Jesus looked at him and saw in his heart that there was one thing he lacked, he forgot the second commandment to 'Love your neighbor as yourself' (Matthew 22:39).
The rich man had forgotten to love his neighbor the poor people; his money did not allow him to see far off, he was first thinking of himself and instead of him giving up all for the sake of Christ, he became depressed and walk away.
If you walk away from doing what is right before the Lord after knowing the truth of the gospel don't blame anybody else of your failure, disappointment and suffering.
Jesus said to one of a men from the crowd who wanted him to be a judge or a property divider over them.
Jesus said to them, Beware of all covetousness, because life does not depend on abundance of wealth.
Life does not depend on abundance of wealth, therefore be careful your heart doesn't depend on abundance of wealth, because if you do depend on it you will probably become an enemy of God.
Any rich man who gather their crops and store them for many years for his greedy soul.
God said he will come one day when he never expected and he will said to him, "O, you shortsighted man, this very night your life will be demanded of you; and these things which you have prepared to whom will they be left? (Luke 12:20).
Jesus exhort all the poor people:
Do not worry about your life.
Do not worry what you will eat
Do not worry what you will drink
Do not worry with what you will clothed
Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will look after itself. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.
God's Big thoughts for his children is to relies on him, he wants them to trust him; because when Jesus Christ comes, he wants to find them awake to all of these things, and doing the will of God.
For the Father in heaven is pleased to give to all men and women the kingdom (Matthew 6:19-34; Luke 12:13-40).
The scripture said, every man who leaves houses or brothers or sisters or maidservants or father or mother or wife or children or fields or other worldly things (that include riches) for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and in the world to come they shall inherit everlasting life (Matthew 20:29; Mark 10:29-30).
And to those who are disobedient, Jesus said, "whoever love his own father or mother or son or daughters more than me is not worthy of me.
And whoever does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
He who is concerned about his life shall lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake shall find it.
It is very important that we love him more than mammon.
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that (when we die) we can carry nothing out.
The Apostle Paul speaking to the children of God he said unto them, “let us be satisfied with food and clothing; for those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and snares, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in degeneration and destruction” (1 Timothy 6:6-10).
In the book of Psalm 37:16, David said, "A little that a righteous man has is better than the great riches of the wicked.
In the book of James 13:5,6; it says, “Do not be carried away by the love of money; but be content with what you have, for the Lord himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you, so that you may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man may do to me.”
People should be thankful that God has blessed them with a good job and can provide food on the table and pay all the bills.
It is better to work with your hands and depend on God than to have all the riches and wealth with no intention to give and share with other.
Money become a curse when man serve and love it more than God.
Be wise and have a willing spirit to listen, keep, and obey God's word.
If you see a brother in needs and you shut your mercy from him, the bible says, you have become a murderer who abide in death; you do not have eternal life abiding in you. (Mark 10:17-23; 1John 3:14-17).
Now if you are a man or a woman that love God then you would want to please the Lord:
In the scripture there was a rich man of small in stature who did the right thing before the Lord; Zaccal or Zacchaeus is his name and he wanted to see who Jesus was, but the crowd of people didn’t let him, so he climb up into a fig tree that he might see him.
When Jesus saw him, he said to him, “Make haste, come down, O Zaccal, for today I must stay at your house.”
In the house of Zaccal, he says to Jesus, “My Lord, half of my wealth I will give to the poor; and I will pay fourfold to every man from whom I have extorted.”
Jesus said to him, “Today life has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham” (Luke 19:1-9).
Life has come to his house because of what Zaccal has said. The first thing Zaccal realize that he has been selfish and greedy and now he acknowledge that being rich is a chance for him to share and to give to the poor people.
The second thing he realize that he was not that honest with the people of God and he acknowledge that paying back to every man from whom he has extorted is the right thing to do before the eyes of God and when Jesus heard his word it please him very much and from that moment life came to Zaccal's house.
Again riches is a blessing and a gift of God, but you have to understand that getting rich in a way that God did not intending for you to have; the wealth you accommodate by usury and unjust ways and without love in your heart will never let you inherit life eternal.
If your riches and wealth came by lying and slyness, then stealing people's money it will never let you inherit life eternal and any person who erred from the faith will bring to himself many sorrows" (1Timothy 6:7-10).
So be careful what you do to people, because God will judge you and reward you for all the good and bad things you have done to them.
Zaccal riches was accommodate by being dishonest to the people, but after Jesus came to his house that was change and life came to Zaccal's house.
But there was another man who heart was full of greediness.
Be careful that you don't gather your abundance for your greedy soul.
In Luke 12:16-34 and Matthew 6:19-34; Jesus speak of a story of a rich man; who reasoned within himself to gather all his crops into a large barns for him to satisfied his selfish soul; but the Lord said to him, “O you shortsighted man, this very night your life will be demanded of you, and these things which you have prepared, to whom will they be left?”
Instead of him gathering his crops into a large barns for him to satisfied his greedy and selfish soul, he should have share it with the poor people and that would have been wise of him and the Lord God would have been please with him, but he choose not to do any good deed.
Looks in verse 19; “he store up all his crops for himself, for many years, rest, eat, drink, and be happy.”
But the bible says, he lost his life.
Look what Jesus said to his disciples about any rich man who had a selfish and greedy heart, verse 21, “such is he who lays up treasures for himself and is not rich in the things of God.”
The only treasure that Jesus want you to lay up for yourselves is the treasure in heaven, but never to lay up treasure for yourselves.
A selfish and greedy person think in laying up treasure for himself.
To be rich in the things of God is to lay up for yourself treasure in heaven by being ready to give and willing to share.
This is why Jesus said to the rich people, "sell your possession and give it as alms (to the poor) and you will have treasure in heaven", that is how you become rich in the thing of God.
There are three scriptures that speak about being rich in the things of God:
The first scripture is found in Luke 12:33, Jesus Christ said, “sell your possessions and give them as alms; make for yourselves purses which do not wear out, and a treasure in heaven that does not run short, where the thief does not come near, and moth does not destroy.”
The second scripture back up what Jesus told his disciples about having treasure in heaven in Matthew 19:21 he says to the rich man, " sell your possession and give them to the poor, and you will have a treasure in heaven …
The third scripture is found in 1Timothy 6:18; Paul said to the rich man, “do good works, and become rich in good deeds, and be ready to give and willing to share, laying up in store for yourselves a good foundation against the time to come, that you may lay hold (of what?) upon the true life.”
With a heart full of love you can lay hold the true life.
It is a heart that thinks of other first; a heart that love to gives and willing to share with other.
This is why Jesus said, “to lay up for yourselves a treasure in heaven, where neither rust nor moth destroys and where thieves do not break through and steal.
People who are kind love to deposit their treasure in heaven.
The happiness and the joy of the poor people is the happiness and the joy of the givers. (Matthew 6:20,21).
Jesus warn the poor not to worries for their life, neither to be anxious, nor to have their mind be disturbed by those things they needs… for the Father knows that these things are also necessary for them.
The main thing is to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and then all the things that is needing shall be added.” (Matthew 6:25-34; Luke 12:22-32).
The rich man should remember always how God helped him and blessed him.
Show him your gratitude by giving and helping the poor for this will please God.
When Jesus Christ die and rose up from the dead and was lifted up to heaven; in the day of Pentecost all the brethren gather together and something wonderful happen in the upper room, the brethren were filled with the Holy Spirit.
Since that day the brethren went out preaching the gospel and win many souls; people got healed and many miracles happen in the name of Jesus Christ and they spoke the word of God boldly.
Those who were converted and have possessions sold them and divided them to each man according to his need (Acts 2:45).
You see those who were converted had possessions and because of God' love that now dwell in them, they saw for the first time the need of the poor brethren and they have compassion on them; therefore they decided to give up their possessions and sale it and give it to each man according to his need.
This kind of charity is what God is looking for in the heart of the believer.
Peter and John were going to the temple to pray but they were met by a certain man lame from his mother womb, he was brought to the gate of temple which is called Beautiful to ask for alms, the bibles says that when Peter saw that he has faith to be healed, Peter calls his attention and the man got healed and Peter came inside the temple with the man healed and Peter started to preach to the people inside the temple and five thousand men believe.
But because this healing was done in the name of Jesus Christ, John and Peter was arrested and later released from the hands of the priests and Sadducees, they went to their brethren and he told them what happen to them and the place where they were assembled together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke the word of God boldly.
Now the congregation of the believers were of one soul and of one mind, not one of them spoke of the property he possessed as his own, but everything they had was in common.
There was not a man among them who was destitute; for those who possessed fields and houses sold them and brought the money for the things that were sold, and placed them at the disposal of the disciples; and the proceeds were then given to every man according to his needs (Acts 3:1-26; 4:1-35).
This people have more sense to know that there were many people in needs and that they were the only one who have the mean and solution to help them; and that is exactly what they did, they help the poor people.
God expect of the rich people and those who have abundance to care for the needs of others and to help one another; to give and be willing to share is the key of life eternal.
God wants man to be able and willing and have a heart full of love.
God is looking for men and women who possess field and houses, men and women who are not afraid to give up everything and makes them in common.
Man who is willing to take the money of their possession, and place it at the disposal of men of God for them to give to every man according to his needs, therefore, walk in God's Love.
Just like the story of a man who went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and bandits attacked him and robbed him and beat him and left him with little life remaining in him, and they went away.
And a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion on him. And he came to him and bound up his wounds and poured on them wine and oil; and he put him on his own ass and brought him to the inn and took care of him.
And in the morning, he took out two pennies and gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, “Take care of him; and whatever you spend more, when I return I will give it to you.”
Have a given and a sharing heart, hear what Jesus said to his disciples about this man, he said to them, "this is the way you should love your neighbor." (Luke 10:27-37).
Not like these two fellows that God was not pleased with them.
When Peter was collecting alms and donation from rich people with the money they have sold from their properties, to give it to every man according to his needs.
It happens that a man and his wife sold their field and he took some of the money and hid it.
They thought by saying to Peter that they have sold their field for this price when they did not sold it for that price, that they were going to get away with this lie and that God will be please with them.
But one thing they did not know, they did not lie to Peter but to the Holy Spirit.
The scripture said that the wife name Shapphira or Sapphira and her husband name Ananias fell down and died and men carried them away and buried them (Acts 5:1-10).
Selfishness and greediness heart and not being honest with people can take you where there is death.
So be careful what you say and do before God for he might not has mercy on you and you might end up losing your life.
Paul wrote something very important for us to take note.
In the book of Philippians 4:10-19; writing to the church he said to them, “… You have continued to care for me even thou you yourselves have not had sufficient.”
These people did not even had sufficient for themselves but still they continue to care for Paul because they love him very much.
When you love your brother, you want to provide those things they needs, and those things that you provide for them are treasures deposit in heaven and it is welcome as a fragrant perfume and a sacrifice acceptable and well pleasing in the eyes of God.
Paul goes on saying “I have learned to make what I have sufficient to meet my needs.
I know what it is to be poor, and I know what it is to be rich; I have gone through many things and experienced many things, both to be full and to be hungry, both to have plenty and to be in want.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Before I continue let me ask you a question, what makes Paul says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me?”
Do you think it was the continue care he was receiving from the people of Philippi? No way sir, I don’t think so.
What was Paul referring here that there were time when he has money, and that there were time that he did not have any money; there were time he went through many things and experienced many thing, both to fill his stomach with food and to go hunger; both to have plenty of things and to be in want.
The referring here is that Paul has learned having money or not having money, and having his stomach full or not having his stomach full; and having the things he wants or not having the things he always wanted; all of these things does not separate him from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord neither does it stop him to do what God has called him to do.
That is why he says, "I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me."
Again even thou Paul went through all this changes in having and not having, he learns to trust God and to face any situation of life with ease, “he learn to have confidence within himself, he believe he can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens him, nothing will stop him in fulfilling the call of God in his life, for God is his strength and his life who has supply and will continue to supply all his needs according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ.”
You have to understand Paul never lust after worldly things.
We will come back here again later, but lets goes to the book of Acts 20:33-35.
In the book of Acts Paul said, “I have never coveted silver or gold or apparel".
The apostle Paul indicates that he has never love the things of the world: the pride of material things.
Paul continue saying, "Indeed you yourselves know that my own hands have provided for my needs and for those who have been with me."
It is very important and humanity to remember those who are with you and to provide their needs.
Paul never lust after money neither after any other material things, but with the work of his hand he provided his own needs and for those who have been with him.
Again look at the key here: he’s provided for his needs and for those who have been with him.
Lets continue reading verse 35: “I have showed you all things, how that one must work hard and be mindful of the weak and remember the words of our Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Again Paul is saying to the church you are more blessed when you give yourself to the work of the Lord and are mindful of the weak.
Here again the word of Jesus Christ commanded to give because it is more blessing to give than to receive.
Given to those who has necessity and for the kingdom of God will multiply your given.
God will remember you when you are in need too.
Paul and Jesus Christ gave us the key of heaven and that is to be mindful of the weak, and to provide the needs of the poor people, include the need of the church of God.
Church of God if you continue to walk in the path of God's love you'll succeeds and prosper everywhere you go through Christ Jesus our Lord.
God is saying to those who have ears to hear are you willing to leave all things behind to follow his foot steps?
Are you ready to sacrifice your life for the sake of the brethren and for the sake of the gospel, ready to be generously and cheerfully?
If you says, yes, then hear the word of God, "he will never leave you neither forsake you, he will multiply your seed and cause the fruits of your righteousness to grow" (2Corinthians 9:4-14).
Remember what Solomon wrote in the book of Proverbs 29:7; he said a righteous man is a person who considers the cause of the poor.
Understand that God's words does not speak only to the rich people, but to all of those who has abundance and can give and share with other.
Abundance mean you have more than enough.
Having more than enough to supply your needs as well the needs of others.
It is your obligation as children of God to care and provide the needs of other with your financial support.
Therefore if you want to see the fruit of righteousness grow and increase each day in your life then be willing and obey Jesus Christ's words.
Back to the book of Philippians 4:10-19;
The scripture teaches us that when a person gives for the glory of God, it is welcome as a fragrant perfume and a sacrifice acceptable and well pleasing to God.
The fruit of the gospel increase to him and God will supply all his needs according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ.
It is also important to work with our hands so we can have food to eat and something to give or something to share with others.
Paul writing to the churches of Thessalonians and Ephesians he mention to them that there are men who lead an evil life and not according with the commandments which they receive from us, they are men who do not work at all but are busy bodies.
Paul command and exhort by the Lord Jesus Christ, that they work quietly and eat their own bread.
Not only there were people in the church who did not work at all but also there were people in the midst of them who were thieves but now they are converted, whom Paul commands also saying, “henceforth let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor with his hands and do good deeds, that he may have something to give to him who is in need” (2Thessalonians 3:5-15; Ephesians 4:28).
Again Paul is mentioning here how important it is to work and to provide food on the table so you can eat your own bread but the most important humanity of all is to have something to give to those who are in needs indeed.
Jesus Christ and the apostle Paul witness and teaches to labor with our hand and work quietly, and to provide food on the table, and to have something to give to those who are in needs because it is a more blessing to give than to receive."
Another example of given we can see it with the brethren of Macedonia and Achaia.
In the book of Romans 5:25-28, the brethren of Macedonia and Achaia have been please to take part in helping the poor saints who are at Jerusalem because they were indebted to them to minister in material things and Paul distribute to them this kind of help.
If you have to give then give, but if you don't have to give then don't give.
God intending his people to give according to that which they have and not according to that which they have not, and their gift will be acceptable.
God expect that your abundance be a supply for the people want, and that there be equality (2Corinthians 8:12-14).
Paul teaches an important lesson that will open ours eyes and can heal our heart, he said, “He who had gather much (for himself because he is selfish and greedy) had nothing over (in the eyes of God);
And he who had gathered little (because he think of other first and love to give and willingly to share with other) had no lack [in the eyes of God]” (2Corinthians 8:9-15).
People who have riches and wealth and don't care for any human race and close their eyes of mercy, the day will come when they will have needs, but God also will close his eyes and will have no mercy neither compassion of them.
Jesus Christ taught us that he was rich but for the sake of the poor, he became poor (what a great example Jesus Christ leave us, he took his riches and gave it away to the poor; how many of you can said the same thing? look what he said next) so that through his poverty, the poor might be rich; in another word their needs God will supply (2Corinthians 8:9).
Apostle Paul writing to the church he said, have the mind of Christ and imitate him.
The mind of Christ think true thoughts.
The mind of Christ think pure thoughts.
The mind of Christ think just thoughts.
The mind of Christ think lovely thoughts.
The mind of Christ think honest thoughts.
The mind of Christ think good report thoughts.
Anything that is virtue and give praise the mind of Christ think of these things.
The mind of Christ said, It is more blessing to give than to receive.
The mind of Christ said, I give and it shall be given unto me, good measure, shaken down and running over they will pour into my robe. For with the measure that I measure, it will be measure to me.
The mind of Christ said, I have two shirts I will give one, and have food I do likewise.
The mind of Christ said, I give to those who ask me and lend and I do not cut off any man hope.
The mind of Christ said, I treat other the way I want other to treat me.
The mind of Christ said, When I see my brother naked I will give him those thing he needed for the body.
The mind of Christ said, My abundance will be for my brother wants.
The mind of Christ said, I will bless and do good to all people.
The mind of Christ said, I love my brother and I forgive all his fault and I do not remember it anymore.
The mind of Christ said, I seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
The mind of Christ said, I trust the Lord for he will supply all my needs according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ.
The mind of Christ said, Jesus bore all my sin and lifted them with his body on the cross, that I, being dead to sin, should live through his righteousness; and by his wound or strips I was healed.
The mind of Christ said, If God is for me who can be against me.
The mind of Christ said, Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.
The mind of Christ said, The Lord says, No weapon that is formed against me shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against me in judgment, I shall condemn. It is my heritage and my righteousness is of the Lord.
The mind of Christ said, I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.
The mind of Christ said, I am more than a conquer through him who loved me.
And if Jesus says to you to give is because he wants you to be blessed, no question ask.
What benefit will it be if a rich man gain the whole world and at the end lose his soul in hell (Matthew 16:26; Acts 20:35)?
There many preachers and teachers out there that teaches and preaches that a man should sow a [money] seed offering and in due time he will receive a harvest.
The sowing seed that Jesus Christ spoke about is the planting of the word of God into people heart and this planting has nothing to do with money.
The bible teach us that those who believe in Jesus Christ has his seed planted in them.
Seed is not money that people sowed, but seed is word and in this case seed is generosity that a man sow.
Jesus use word Seed which save our soul and Paul use generosity Seed which bless our giving.
Some people might says but wait a minute in the book of 2Corinthians 9:5-12 it speak that money is a seed that you sow.
No, no, to sows generously does not refer to sowing money.
Sowing generously means to have a generous manner in your giving.
Someone might says, in verse 10 it says, "Now he who gives seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and cause the fruits of your righteousness to grow,"
That you may be enriched in everything, in all liberality; for such generosity enables us to perfect thanksgiving to God.
For the administration of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints, but it also is made abundant by many thanksgivings to God."
In verse 10, Paul was referring to what he was saying in verse 6, The Lord who gives seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed [your generously] and will cause the fruits of your righteousness [your peaceful heart] to grow.
Remember what James chapter three verse eighteen said, "And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by the peacemaker.
James is telling the people of God to sow the seed of righteousness and that seed is sown in peace by the peacemaker.
Here on verse 10, Paul is talking about your generosity and not your money, that is what you sow and God who give seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your generosity, and will cause your peace to grow.
Paul was never talking about money, if Paul was talking how to make money abundantly, sadly to said then he is responsible for the reason why the church have become materialistic full of vicious people lusting after money and not after God.
No, brother, Paul was not talking how to make money but how to sow generously and reap generously.
And if you sow sparingly, you will reap sparingly.
Remember the bible said, For with the same measure you measure will be measure to you, in another word if you were generosity with people, when the day comes and you are in need people will also be generous with you.
This is why Paul said in verse 7: So let every man give according to what he has decided in his mind, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
If you decide to give cheerful and in a generously manner then God will love it and will be please with you.
"Sowing generously" is "having a generous manner when you give and God will love it so much."
When Paul says, "God who gives seed to the sower", here he is talking about seed that produce food and never about money.
Sowing generously and the fruits of your righteousness is what enriched you in everything, in all liberality; for such generosity enable you to perfect thanksgiving to God.
Again Sowing generously is what enables us to perfect thanksgiving to God and at the end you will reap generously too.
Those who walk in God's love and do good deeds to his brother and give to his neighbor are givers who has the word (the seed) of God in them.
Those who give [generously] will be given to them; good measure shaken down and running over, they will pour into your robe.
For with the measure they measure will be measure to them (Mark 4:14-25; Luke 6:27-38).
If you sows sparingly, you shall also reap sparingly; if you sows generously, you shall also reap generously.
Giving an offering is volunteer and should be given generously
For the administration of this service not only supply the want of the saints, but also it is made abundant and enables you to perfect thanksgiving to God.
Man should give according to what he has, and what he has decided in his mind, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God love a cheerful giver.
Therefore sows cheerfully and generously and then you will reap cheerfully and generously.
Again money is not what you sow but generously.
Lets continue reading, "that you may be enriched in everything, in all liberality [you will be enriched in all generosity]; for such generosity enables you to perfect thanksgivings to God. [2 Corinthians 9:6-12]
Look here brethren, Paul said, God who give seed to the sower and bread for food.
God give the sower seed and bread, but it does not says God give the sower money, no brother it does not says that, but God gives the sower seed to sow in the ground and bread for food.
Seed is what produce wheat or grain that give us bread for food to eat and never money.
It does not said that God multiply your "seed of money" so you can have food to eat, no way brothers but God give the sower seed to sow in the ground that later harvest food to eat.
Paul in another letter charge the rich people in the church to be not proud, nor trust in the uncertainty of their riches, but in the living God who give us all things so abundantly for our comfort.
This topic many teachers love so much to teach and they said you see this verse show how much God wants us to have riches in abundant for our comfort.
No, brother that is not what Paul is charging to the rich people to do, but to know God is the one who give us all things so abundantly for our comfort and he charge them to be not proud nor trust in the uncertainty of riches but in God, and to do good works and become rich in good deeds, be ready to give and willing to share [that is what Paul is charging them and not how to become richer].
He wanted them to lay up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come; that they may lay hold upon the true life.
The only riches that Paul has in mind for the rich people to have is to become rich is in the things of God and never how to make millions of dollars.
Paul charges was to become rich in good deeds [good works] and be ready to gives and willing to share that is the riches Paul was charging them to have (1 Timothy 6:17-19).
Paul charging was for those who are rich in this world and never for the poor people, these rich people did not needing to get richer because they were already rich, but what they needing to do is to become rich in the things of God.
I don't think Paul will contradict himself neither rise up against the teaching of Jesus Christ.
Paul charges them to be ready to give and willing to share, this is the same thing God wants the rich people to obtain so that they may lay up in store for themselves a good foundation and that foundation is Jesus Christ the light of life.
Paul will never rise up against the Word of Jesus Christ, but his letter agree with Jesus' saying and will never contradict itself.
Paul mentioned equality and equality is an even measurement, the same, no more and no less.
Your abundance should be a supply for the saints want and the saints abundance should be a supply for your want; that there may be equality at this particular time (2 Corinthians 8:14).
Jesus charge the believers: he who has two shirts, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.
Jesus is talking about equality just like Paul has charged the church [Luke 3:11].
Jesus also said, It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).
The words that Paul and Jesus spoke was written for the benefit of the body of Christ so everything is done the right way and every person is treated equally and fairly.
If you have something to give then give it with all your heart.
There is a difference between having and not having anything to give.
Any person who has wisdom know that a poor person who does not have nothing to give can't give, it is obvious.
You can not give what you don't have.
This is why Paul said to the church "For if there is a willingness to give, every man can give according to that which he has, and not according to that which he has not, and his gift will be acceptable." [according to the Holy Bible from Ancient Eastern Manuscripts]
Paul never put or added a burden to any man who did not have anything to give, on contrary the good intention of the apostle Paul was that there may be an equality in the body of Christ. (2 Corinthians 8:12-14).
Therefore the message of the kingdom of God is for those who has abundance and can give generously, whether you can give a million dollars or just a few pennies.
If a person can give just two pennies then he has given all his abundance.
Anybody who has abundance can give to the work of God.
Another thing there is a different between those who give from their abundance and those who give all their abundance (all possession or everything they have earned).
The scripture teaches us that Jesus was looking at the rich men who were casting their offerings into the treasury [The offering was brought and presenting unto God and Jesus was looking who was casting offering for he is Lord of all things].
And he also saw a poor widow, who cast in two pennies.
And Jesus said, "Truly I say to you that this poor widow has cast in more than every man.
For all these cast into the house of the offering of God of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has cast in everything she has earned" (Luke 21:1).
In Mark 12:40- 42, Jesus rephrase the same thing, like this, "This poor widow has cast into the treasury more that all the men who are casting.
…she on her poverty cast everything she had, even all of her possessions.
You see while the rich people were casting their offering into the treasury they were casting of their abundance, but what called Jesus attention and please him the more was seeing this poor woman that from her poverty she gave all her possessions and that's a sacrifice that the Lord love to see from anyone who is willing to give all things for the sake of the gospel and for the sake of the people of God and they will receive in this time hundredfold (Mark 10:29-30).
This poor widow put God first and she left us a good example for us to follow.
Seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness will add to you those things you need.
God expect all of us to do likewise for the sake of the gospel and for the sake of Jesus Christ.
I can hear someone saying, that is not right, instead of that poor woman giving her last two pennies they should have been helping her.
You have to understand, in those time people came voluntary to the treasury to show their gratitude toward God by giving a gift offering to the Lord.
It happen that this woman came voluntary to give an offering with a heart full of gratitude and when Jesus saw this poor woman giving cheerfully and generouly, her offering draw Jesus attention, and Jesus calls his disciples to show them what pleases him the most, he like her offering, for the rich men were casting of their abundance, but this poor woman from her poverty choose to cast her last two pennies.
She was not obligate to give neither did she have to, but she choose to cast all possession voluntary, she understand how important is to give cheerfully to the Lord, and because of her good generous deed of the heart, Jesus was please with her more than all those rich people.
It is a not a matter what you think is right neither if it does not make any sense in your carnal mind.
What's matter here is what pleases the Lord.
After you put God first, God will take care of the rest.
Do you doubt that God is able to take care of you and keep you well?
Don't you believe that God is a good God and a true God and that he doesn't lie?
Don't you believe that God can help you in many ways that you can not even imagine and bless you so abundantly?
Do you believe that he can't help you at all?
If you believe he is able to help you and that he does not lie and you can trust him to take care of you then why do you question God's word and have doubt in your heart?
Didn't Paul wrote to the church saying, "God will supply all your needs according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ?" (Philippians 4:19).
For sure God supply this poor woman all her needs.
Now, what is the problem of this poor woman given all her possession to the Lord?
For sure she gave all her possession trusted the creator of heaven and earth to provide all her needs.
If it please Jesus see her giving all her possession, for sure his Father was please with her too and help her and took care of all her needs.
According to history, the reason the rich was casting offering from their abundance it was to help maintain the temple and to give to the poor people; so don't tell me they did not help this poor woman too, for sure they took care of her too.
We have to stop complaining, stop being afraid, and stop doubting God, for he will never leave you but he will help you in the time of needs.
Believe him, he will hear your cry and help you in the time of needs and delivery you out of them all.
Let man be a liar, but let God be true.
This is why Jesus said to his disciples, "every man who leaves houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my name sake and for the sake of my gospel shall receive now, in this time a hundredfold, houses and brothers and sisters and maidservants and children and fields and other worldly things, and in the world to come you shall inherit everlasting life (Matthew 19:29; Mark 10:29,30).
If you leaves your family and your houses and your fields that include all your wealth and riches for him; If you leaves all these things for the sake of the gospel, God has promised us that we will receive now, in this time a hundredfold and in the world to come we shall inherit everlasting life.
Abraham left his country, the place of his nativity and from the father's house, he left everything behind to a land that God will show him and after he left God blessed him.
Remember in the New Testament to the believers, God's Big Thought is to love God above all things and to love your neighbors as yourselves and that mean leaving everything behind for his name sake and for the sake of the gospel.
He expect you to obey his word and to give and then it shall be given unto you ... because it is more blessing to give than to received.
Jesus said, "If a man asks, give him; if a man wants to borrow from you, lend him and do not cut off any man's hope" (Luke 6:37-38).
Are you able and willing to leaves all things behind to follow Jesus Christ's foot steps?
Again are you able and willing to sacrifice yourselves and leaves all things behind for the sake of Jesus Christ and for the sake of the gospel?
If you answer is yes, then you will receive now, in this time a hundredfold and you will inherit everlasting life.
Again one thing is to have and give and another thing is not having anything to give.
Any person who don't have anything to give there is hope for him.
The word of God says, “Jesus Christ was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor …”
What was the reason he became poor?
So that you can become more poorer, I don’t think so.
Well lets me see again, ooh' I know, if you have nothing to give to the preachers or to any ministers, you should borrow money from a friend or a family member, if not then search in your home to see if you can find something you can sale in cash and send it to the minister, and then you are ready to move on to the next higher level of becoming rich.
Hum um um um... I don’t think so, this idea is foolish and it is not biblical scriptures, but a theory that was established by carnal man.
What did Jesus said about this matter?
He says ".. for your sakes he became poor so that you through his poverty, you might be rich (he supply your needs).
The moment a person come to Christ he inherit the right of Jesus Christ's supplies.
He is already rich, in another word, God will supply all his needs according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ.
Rich does not mean you will have the bank full of money that you will not have any idea what to do with it, no brothers, what it mean that God will supply your daily bread and other needs as well.
God provide sincerely needs, but selfishness and greediness and other covetousness needs God will not supply.
The poor in this world, the Lord has chosen them to be rich by faith to inherent the Kingdom [see James 2:6], yes, they are rich already for the Lord God shall supply all their needs according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ.
Brethren you don’t become rich or have your needs supplied by giving or by promising a preacher or a teacher an offering when you don’t have nothing to give.
You can't give what you don't have
How can you give when you don't have anything to give?
Even if you have a willingness desire to give a gift, but you don't have anything to give, if your passion to give is there, the bible says, don't do it, don't promise to give because it will not be acceptable to God.
The apostle Paul teaches the church not to do that and that it is better that you wait until you have something to give and then your gift will be acceptable to God (2 Corinthians 8:12).
The poor woman who cast her last two pennies into the treasury gave it voluntary, she had the offering to give and she gave it, and God was please with her and for sure God supply all her needs, because God is not a liar.
But to have a desire to give when you don't have anything to give will not be acceptable unto God.
If you have a desire to give a voluntary offering make sure you have it first, and if you don't have it then don't promise or compromise yourselves to give offering or donation because it will not be acceptable unto God (it will not please the Lord).
The good news is that Jesus Christ gave away his riches (his supplies) to the poor who did not have any hope.
If you have need, no problem, God has giving you his supplies.
Jame said to the church, Has not God chosen the poor of the world, who are rich in the faith to be heirs of the Kingdom which God has promised to those who love him?
But you have despised the poor (James 2:5-6).
The same thing is happening today the poor people has been despised by the rich and the church, but God is saying to us that he has chosen the poor of the world to be rich in the faith and to be heirs of the Kingdom.
The scripture is saying have faith in God, God will always make a way out for you, he will provide all your needs.
The scripture teaches you to ask and and it will be giving to you, therefore ask and believe in your heart that he has heard you, and he will give you the desire of your heart.
Jesus says, "ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you."
For whoever asks, receive; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, the door is opened.
The Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him.
If the Father is willing to give you the Holy Ghost, how much more he will give you your daily bread, for he is more mindful of you than any wild flower in the field for you are more important than anything he has created on earth. (Matthew 6:26-30; 7:7-12).
How do you receive those things you asks for?
The Father and his son live in every believer hearts; he reign in their heart.
Every vessel of God who has abundance can supply the needs of the poor people
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost through us will guide us and tell us what to do, how to help and supply their needs.
It is our responsibility to care and to supply the need of our brethren with our abundance and do not negligent in helping them.
Through us God will help those who are desperately needing of supply .
Everything that the poor people need are here on earth and we have the material resort to provide it to them.
The church should collect offering and safe them in case of an emergency, and if an emergency arrive then from the offering take what it's needing and distribute to the necessity of the brethren (Titus 3:14).
We have to be ready to provide those things the believers needs so like that they don't have to go outside of the church to get help.
Now if a church is small and can't provide those things they need then the leader of the church has an obligation to find a way to get in touch with other churches leaders and let them know about the situation and the leaders from that church in obedience to the word of the Lord should provide the need of the poor people.
Brothers we are all members of the body of Christ and together we are one body in Christ.
We should do charity and also we should help one another in remembrance of the word of Jesus Christ which he says to his disciples, you should love your neighbor as yourself; how? by giving, for it is more blessing to give that to receive.
It is biblical that all Pastor or leaders should ask other churches for help and to supplies the need of other church.
It is biblical to do this, according to the scripture.
The bible says that Paul deprive other churches and took supplies from them in order to minister to the brethren in Corinth (2 Corinthians 11:8).
Pastors and churches together we are one in Christ and we can supply the needs of the brethren who are out of work, and also those who are working day and night for the sake of Christ and for the sake of the Gospel.
The bible tell us, that the Apostle Paul had needs, and his needs was provided by the brethren who came from Macedonia.
The Apostle Paul did not burden the church of Corinthians because he did not came there for that reason, but to work very hard with his hands and to minister them spiritually.
All his need were already supplied by the brethren of Macedonia.
Therefore he did not let the church of Corinthians to supply his needs because his supplies was already provided.
Paul came to Corinth to help them and not to be a burden to them and thats what he did he blessed them.
Paul quote what Jesus said: it is more blessing to give than to receive.
And that's what he did he work hard and minister them spiritually, he gave himself to the work and for the glory of God without any charge (2 Corinthians 11:8,9).
In the book of Philippians 4:10-19, Paul in his letter express his gratitude toward the Philippians for care for him, for they have sent more than one time to Paul needs when he was at Thessalonians and when Epaphroditus came to bring their gift to him; Paul receive everything he needed, and it was more than enough; and he was satisfy with all the gift the Philippians sent him and their gift meet all his needs.
Some people would says, well Paul did not use any of these privileges in Corinth but with his own hands he provided for his needs.
And you know what, you are right, Paul didn't use any of these privileges in Corinth but with his own hands he provided for his needs, it does not means he did not allow other churches to help him and supply his wants when he needing it.
Paul works hard to help the Corinth people, and with his own hands he provided for his needs; the scripture says, his wants was supply by the brethren of Macedonia.
Paul wrote, a man who work in the temple and minister and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ has the right to eat and to drink, and he has the right to live without working.
When Paul said, " he has the right to live without working" he is talking about man who God has called him to the ministry, to preach and to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the law of Moses it says, you shall not muzzle the ox that treads out the wheat.
God is not only concern for the ox but he is also concern for us, for our sake he said that and he wrote it for our sakes.
Paul believes any person who sown among the brethren spiritually things should reap material things from them too but not necessary means to get them greedily rich.
Even in the old covenant those who work in the Holy place were maintained out of the temple and those who minister at the altar shared the offering with the altar.
Jesus commanded that those who preach his gospel should live by his gospel.
And even thou Paul teaches the church about all of these right, yet he did not use none of these privileges in Corinth, for Paul prefer better to die, than that any man [in Corinth] should declared his empty pride.
Paul knew better to avoid criticizing from the brethren of Corinth, for he did not wanted the Corinth to think that he was abusing the power given to him in the gospel and burden them.
Paul wages was to preach the gospel without charge and thought of recompensing and without abusing and burden them and his conscience was free from all these criticizing of Corinth, the preaching of the gospel is free and no man should charge for preaching the gospel, for the main goal Paul was going after was to served all men and to gain many of them to Christ [1 Corinthians 9:1-19].
In 2 Corinthians 11:6-9, read what the scripture said, Paul preaches the gospel to the Corinth freely without any charge, and the scripture says, when Corinth needing supply Paul deprive other churches taking supplies from the them, in order to minister to the need of Corinth, yet when he came to Corinth, he was in need, but did not burden none of them, for his wants were supplied by the brethren who came from Macedonia.
Paul teaches us that anywhere the Lord God send you to minister to, do it with love with all your heart and don't be a burden to any church where God has sent you to help them, but with love accept the supplied sent by brethren of other churches and don't get caught up or tangle in the spirit of greediness.
Remember God is watching you and he knows what you are doing and also what you are thinking of; the Lord can discern the intention of your heart.
Now if you don't have no church that can supply your needs then just trust God.
If for any reason your wants has not been supplied yet, still continue trusting the Lord, don't dismayed but be strong and of good courage, and fear not for he has many ways to help you, whether it be through vessels you don't know or perhaps some other mystery ways, God will always take care of you and help you, just keep on working in the temple and preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Look at Paul example, he advises you to learned to make what you have sufficient to meet you needs.
To know what it is to be poor, and to know what it is to be rich; to go through many things and experienced many things, both to be full and to be hungry, both to have plenty and to be in want.
You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you [Philippians 4:10-13].
Sometime living for the Lord is to go through suffering, and Paul did suffers many trials and persecution and in the book of 2 Corinthians 11:23-33 he tells the church how much trial and persecution he endured: ...... in toil and weariness, in sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, through much fasting, in cold and nakedness and ..... he has also care for all the churches.
Now there are also time when you have to labor with your hands to provide your own needs and in one occasion Paul in his ministry did work making saddle.
When Paul was at Corinth, the scripture says that Paul was a saddle makers by trade and when Aquila and his wife Priscilla has arrived from Italy Paul stood with them and work with them.
Paul never covered silver and gold or apparel.
The scripture says, Paul provided his own needs and and the needs of other and he work hard and was mindful of the weak.
It would be beneficial for you and for all believers as a good example that before you help and establish a church where God has sent you to build make sure also to seek an employment in that country according to your trade or experience and education and provide your own need and the need of others, and that is if you don't have any others churches outside of the country to send supply and meet all your needs, for this is Paul's good advise as a testimony for all the believers to follow.
In Rome, Paul paid for his own expenses, after the Jews has heard the gospel of the Kingdom and disagree among themselves, Paul departed from them to preach the gospel to the Gentiles and he hire a house for himself at his own expenses and lived there for two years; there he received all who came to him.
All of these show us, a man who is called by God to the ministry might have to work outside the church to provide his own need and the need of other who is with him, he has to be willingly to do this and be mindful of others, but that does not necessary means that he is not going to have brethren of other churches who would want to help him and provide all his needs while he continue dedicating himself to the preaching and teaching of the word.
Paul never said, all ministers shouldn't receive any gifts offering that are given out of love and with a generously and cheerful heart neither did he says do not let other people help you provide your need, no brother he did not says that, but on contrary he said to the church of Philippi, you have continue to care for me, even thou you yourselves have not have sufficient, you have done well to share my difficulties.
Paul says to the church of Philippi, "even you gave me more than once when I was in Thessalonians to meet my needs."
Paul continue saying to them, "I have received everything I need", and it is more than enough; I am satisfied, having received everything you sent me by Epaphroditus, and your gift was welcome as a fragrant perfume and a sacrifice acceptable and well pleasing to God.
But my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ.
Paul receive everything he needing like food, cloths, drink and other materials things too.
In the scripture Paul wrote: For you know well how you ought to imitate us; for our behaviour was not disorderly among you; neither did we eat bread for nothing from any of you, but worked with hard labor and toiled night and day so that we might not be a burden to any of you; not because we did not have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you to follow [2Thessalonians Chapter 3:8-9].
Paul left a good example to the church for them to follow; he said, he who is called by God to his field must work in his field with hard labor day and night and this person who work for the Lord has the right to eat bread from his labor, but those who work not does not have the right to eat bread for nothing.
Paul continue encourage the church to let the elders who minister well be esteemed worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.
For the scripture says, You shall not muzzle the ox that threshes.
It is writing, the laborer is worthy of his hire [1Timothy Chapter 5:17-18].
Paul made it clear to let their people be taught to do good work in time of emergency, that they be not unfruitful [Titus 3:14].
As John has said also, When you have worldly good do not shut your mercy from any brother who has need and let you love one another in deed and in truth [3John 1:6; 1John 3:18 see also James 2:15-17].<
Paul exhorts the church to distribute to the necessity of saints and supply their want according to what the givers have deciding in their mind and can give for the administration of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints, but it also is made abundant by many thanksgivings to God [Roman 12:13; 2 Corinthians 8:12,14; 2 Corinthians 9:7,12].
We can see in the scripture that Paul was invited to a house and there he receive food to eat, read it in Acts 9:17-19, it says, when Paul came near Damascus a light from the sky shone around him after the Lord spoke to him, and Paul arose from the ground he couldn't see and was blinded, he was blinded by the Lord, later the Lord spoke to Ananias about Paul and Ananias sent for him to come to his house and there Paul receive his sight and saw again, Paul arose and was baptized, and when he had receive food, he was strengthened [Acts 9:17-19].
Paul was invited to stay in a woman's, house, he had a place to stay, the scripture says, When Paul was in Macedonia he was urged by a woman who name was Lydia, a seller of purple of the city of Thyatira who heard and believe the gospel and was baptized, to stay in her house; she begged him and urged him strongly [Acts 14:13-15].
Paul and Silas was brought to a house and there they receive food to eat, the scripture says the people of that city accused Paul of preaching customs and creative disturbances in the city and Paul and Silas was put in jail, but at midnight a great earthquake immediately open all the doors and the bands was loosed, when the keeper of the prison saw the doors open, he took a sword and would have killed himself for he thoughts the prisoners have escape, but Paul cried with a loud voice, saying to him, do not harm yourself, for all of us are here, the keeper heard the word of God and he and his household were baptized, and when he had brought them into his house, he set them food before them .... [Acts 16:16-34].
All of these kindness were supplies given to Paul with love and it was provided to Paul at Corinth and also when he stood with Aquila and Priscilla's house and work with them making saddle [Acts 18:1-3].
Paul is a good example for the church to follow and by receiving gifts offering [receiving supplies or provided your want] while you are laboring and preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ is your right, any man called by God to the ministry has the right to live by the gospel for this is a command of the Lord.
Even the scripture tell us that Peter ate with the Gentile, but when certain men from James came because Peter was afraid of them who belonged to the circumcision he withdraw and separate himself from them [Galatians 2:12].
Peter ate with the Gentiles and they were kind to Peter in supplying food for him to eat.
Children of God if you gives alms and offering to help the cost of the gospel and the needs of others, your good fruit of deed will be rewarded and shall increase in heaven; God will bless you abundantly.
Remember the moment you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, by faith you receive salvation for you soul, healing for your body, and he shall supply all your needs.
Your poverty will have to turn into supply.
It is sad to say that many ministers have taken advantage of the poor people who can’t even buy a piece of bread to eat.
People are push to borrow to give to the minister instead of them or the church of God provides those things the poor need or at least supply whatever you can and then refer them to someone who can help them get out of their situation and back up on their feet.
This is why the bible says if you see a brother in need and you shut your mercy and do not give him those things that he need then the love of God is not in you.
He who does not love his brother is a murderer and abides in death (1John 3:14-24).
It is the church (the people of God) whom God has called to provide and help every needs of the poor people.
Every one of us are to reach out the poor people and help them get back up on their feet and be again a productive people.
And after they become independent, likewise they should do and help other who are going through the same situation they have passed through.
Remember prosperity is a gift of God for us to share with the body of Christ (Ecclesiastes 5:19; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8; James 1:17).
It’s already our through our Lord Jesus Christ, but the main point here is that God's riches is equally divided to all believers.
We are require to look out after one another and care for one another.
Have this in mind as it was in Christ Jesus, giving generously and cheerfully is good.
God will accept it and multiply it.
But again brethren don't promise an offering or a donation if you don't have to give. (2Corinthians 8:12-15)
Neither gives offering and donation to make a person rich and wealthy, but give only to supply needs.
Jesus Christ has taught us to gives and be kind one another.
Christ didn't became poor, so that brother 'soap' and brother 'shampoo' may becomes wealthy while the rest of the churches that follow them remain poorer?
No, no, I don't think so, this is not scripture truth.
Paul says that through Christ's poverty all the poor people become rich, but never to make them selfishly rich and greedily wealthy.
If you don't have any needs, but only lust after material things, then Jesus' words is not dwelling in you.
Is having riches and being wealthy is wrong?
No, as long you are a following of Christ's commandments and you are doing it from the heart.
Understand that being rich or wealthy will put you in a spot where God will monitor you and keep record of everything you do according to his word.
Because if you use the money in the wrong way and you do not become rich in the thing of God you will have to give an account to God for all your selfishness and greediness deeds.
But remember that riches and wealth comes after many years of hard work.
You work hard to make your business grow legally and successfully.
A honest business man who follow and obey the law of the land and the law of God will succeed and prosper.
A business man who is sincere and honest people respect, trust, and honor him, everybody praise him and his business will flourish.
If you walk in God's love you will want to gives alms and help people without any regret.
Your joy will be to bless the work of the Lord.
After submitting yourselves to God's Love, he will give you knowledge and wisdom to deal wisely your business.
God's favor and grace will come on you and through Jesus Christ your business will grow and will multiply abundantly.
According to the scripture Christ's commandments is the only way for Christians to please the Lord.
The money and the materials things are here on Earth and those who have it release it to the needs of the poor.
Release in heaven means that you have release it on Earth first.
The offering and materials things that you have released is use to divide it to every man according to his needs (2Corinthians 8:12-14).
That is what the body of Christ is all about.
The church of Christ is just one body prepared to deal with all kind of situation.
The body of Christ must be prepared to help and supply the needs of the people with love.
The body of Christ is a family and we treat our family generously and equally with love,
We are to treat every men the same way we would like them to treated us.
Believers does not has any preference in the church and outside the church, everybody should be treated the same.
For Jesus said, "Just as you want men to do to you, do to them likewise" [Luke 6:31].
Now how this generously manner is accomplished?
It is accomplished through God's love.
God second commandment said to love your neighbor as yourselves.
Love care and it is generous to all men.
Love does not work evil to his neighbor, but Love is the fulfillment of the law and cover multitude of sin.
He who Love is born again and knows God and triumph over the world and this is the victory, which conquer the world, even our faith (Romans 13:9-10; 1John 4:7; 5:4).
If you don't love your brother who is in need then you are not born again neither do you knows God nor can you triumph over the world nor will you have the victory which conquer the world.
Love is the bond of perfection, but sadly to says there are many people in the field that will never enter into the kingdom of God because of their greediness and selfishness heart (Colossians 3:14).
In Matthew 19:21; Jesus said to the rich man, “if you wish to be perfect (lover of humanity) sell all your possession and give them to the poor, and you will have a treasure in heaven.”
The key of deposit treasure in heaven is to give.
You will make treasure in heaven by provided and helping and being kind to other. [Luke 12:33]
God's love can change a person to be a joyful, peaceful, patience, gentle and compassion person, able to leave everything behind and willing to give all for the glory of the Lord.
In the book of Romans 8:15; Paul writing to the Christians he said to them, “what shall separate us from the love of God?
Tribulation or imprisonment or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword?”
Paul was persuaded that neither death nor life nor angels nor empires nor armies nor things present nor things to come nor height nor depth nor anything else created shall be able to separate him from the love of God which is in Jesus Christ our Lord.
It was through God’s love that Paul learn to make what he has sufficient to meet his need.
This is why he said, “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me", including he said, "nothing shall separate me from the love of God which is through Christ Jesus our Lord” (Roman 8:35-39; Philippians 4:10-19).
It doesn't matter the circumstances of life in which you are facing right now, God will keep you well and alive if you trust him; God has his chosen vessels and he can send anyone of them to help you in the time of needs.
Circumstances and problem of this world are like cloudy, windy, raining day, thunder and lightning that strike.
If you are in Christ Jesus circumstances and problem of this world will not last for long; darkness will cover but will pass away and the sunlight will appear and shine once more again.
There are time when a man must go through the fire so that he may purify himself, in another word, so that he may come out as pure as gold and the apostle Paul was a good example for us to follow.
In 2 Corinthians 11:20-29, it says, that Paul suffers more than those who called themselves ministers of God.
Paul said to the church that he was wounded more than them, in dangers of death many times, he was scourged, beaten with rods, stoned, shipwreck, adrift in the sea in shipwreck, in perils from river, in perils of robbers, in perils from his own kinsmen, in perils from the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils from false brethren; in toil and weariness, in sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, through much fasting, in cold and nakedness and more.
Even thus Paul suffer and hunger and thirst and did not have any other material things, but one thing he did not lack, he has the love of God in his heart, and none of those obstacles was able to move him and separate him from the love of God, which is in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Paul teaches and exhorts the church that those things which you have learned and received and heard and seen in him, do; and the God of peace shall be with you (Philippians 4:9).
For a man to grow in the love of God, he has to denial himself.
He can't imitate the way of this world of darkness.
He can not love the world and the things that are in the world.
Man need to be transformed by the renewing of the mind.
Just think those things that are pleasing to God.
After thinking what God wants you to think then you will be able to discern what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Loving your brother in deed and in true is good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
When your mind is renewed you will understand that given to the poor and to the church of God is God’s love in action.
He who loves in deed and in true gives without expecting anything back from them.
He provide because he wants to see his brother being blessed and happy .
He who love his brother has pass from death to life (Romans 12:1-2; 1John 3:14).
John in his writing advises the church who is the bride of Jesus Christ not to love the world: the lust of the body, the covetousness of the eyes, and the pride of material things.
If she (Here I am talking about the church who is the bride of Christ) has pride of material things then she will have problem to love God and it will never allow her to grow spiritually strong and see ahead of her neither will she has eternal life.
The more she has the more she will want.
And the more she wants the more she will be draw to the root of all evil 'the love of money' which is a wide path a road of all kind of evil lust.
Once she enter into the path that lead her to the road of all kind of evil lust, the road will close on her and possess her and take hold of her entirely life, living her without any strength and sight to find her way out, she is now possess with a lust spirit and she will lust after evil things more than never before and she will be completely tangle with the web of the world of darkness until death show up as a spider and take hold over her, and kill her and feed on her until she is completely destroyed.
Whoever has pride of material things the love of the Father is not in them and have become the enemy of God.
You can not serve two masters; for either you will hate the one and like the other; or you will honor one and despise the other; you cannot serve God and mammon (wealth) at the same time.
Either you serve the one and despise the other but you can not serve both of them at the same time (Matthew 6:24; Luke 16:13; 1 John 2:15,16; 3:14,15).
James said if you covet and ask not sincerely but you ask that you may satisfy your lusts you become an adulterers and an enemy of God.
James exhort the church that the only way to have victory over the world is by submitting yourselves to God and resist Satan (resist all attack and lie of the enemy) and he will flee from you (James 4:1-4).
First submit yourselves to God by allowing 'Love' to take over the problem because love thinks of good things that please God.
A person who loves share and forgive his brother's fault and he doesn’t remember his brother's fault any more neither does he has any record of wrongdoing, this deeds is how a man submit himself to God and please him and have eternal life (1Corinthian 13:4-8; 1John 3:14).
In the book of Luke 16:19-31, Jesus told another story of a rich man who had a selfish and a greedy spirit and did not care in helping a poor man.
The story is about a rich man who use to wear purple and fine linen, and every day he made merry very lavishly.
And there was a poor man his name Lazarus, who was laid down at the rich man’s door (sometime we have them next to us and we just ignore them), afflicted with boils; he longed to fill his stomach with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table (he was put there for the rich man to see him and have compassion on him and help him but lets continue reading to see what happen to the poor man and the rich man); the dogs also come and licked his boils.
The word said both of them die and the rich man end up in hell and Lazarus in the bosom of Abraham (what was the reason the rich man went to hell? let continue reading).
Verse 25: When the rich man saw Lazarus in the bosom of Abraham, he asks Abraham to send Lazarus to water his finger and wet his tongue; for he was tormented in the flame.
Abraham said to him (Abraham will give us the reason why the rich man went to hell, let continue reading), “My son, remember you receive your pleasure when you were living (riches and wealth), and Lazarus his hardships (a poor man who suffer needs whom the rich man saw every day at the door of his home but the rich man did not have compassion on him to give those thing he need and where is Lazarus now); and behold now he is comfortable here, and you are suffering.”
Sometime you have people like Lazarus at the door of your home or maybe you see them at church, the point here is that you could see them and you know who they are but still you close your eyes of mercy and ignore them.
It is sad to say that many people seat down on the chair in the dinner table in their house with their family and eating good food and throwing away the left over.
Meanwhile in this other poor man house you might know this family that the man of the house is out of work and have no money to pay the bills and can't even provide the needs of the family neither put food on the table, wishing that he can longed to fill his family's stomach with the good food you have left over.
What is the use to have money or riches or wealth save in the bank if you don’t care to give, share and provide those things that the poor people needs?
what is the use to have riches and wealth if God is not please with you?
If you don't love your brother whom you see every day and you know who they are, then you are worst than a sinner.
You know that they are going through tough situation, but still you shut your mercy from them and without compassion you ignore them and then you have the boldness to come to the Lord saying to him how much you really love him.
Unbelievable; let me say to you what the Lord God of heaven think and say about people who don't care neither love their brother in deed and in true and who dare to come to the Lord with a selfish and greedy heart saying to him, "Oh Lord I love you with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my strength and with all my mind."
And I love my neighbor as myself.
But the Lord who see all and know who has a heart full of hypocrisy will recompense each one of them according to their deeds.
He will said to him who is hypocrite and a liar, you are a murderers, an enemy who has no life abiding you neither do I know you, therefore keep away from me O you that work iniquity (Matthew 7:22-23; James 4:1-10; 1John 3:14-18).
In the book of Hebrews 13:16,21; it says, “and do not forget kindness and fellowship with the poor; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”
More clear than that a roster can not crow.
If you want God to be pleased with you then sacrifice yourself and fellowship with the poor people and be kind to them.
The bible says: Blessed is the man who is willing to help, more blessed is he than he who merely rests in hope, as a tree of life he bears fruit [Proverbs 13:12].
And a man who hear the cry of the poor, he also when he cry to the Lord, God will hear him and answer him (Proverbs 21:13).
Solomon also wrote about selfish and cruel rich people who oppress and afflict the poor people and also close their ear.
The scripture says they have provoked the Maker and God will plead the poor people cause and avenge the injustice which is done to them.
These evil people will adds to their evil.
Solomon continual saying that those who gives to the rich and oppress the poor people shall suffer a loss.
It is written: he who has pity on the poor lend to the Lord and he is a companion of the Lord.
And to him who increase his wealth by usury and unjust mean shall leave it for him who is kind to the poor.
The bible also says though they heap up silver like dust and accumulate clothes like clay, they may pile them up, yet the righteous shall wear them, and shall also divide their silver.
The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous or this is a better way to say it, God has promise to him who is kind to the poor that the wealth of the sinner will be laid up for him (Proverbs 13:22; 14:31; 19:17; 22:16,22,23; 28:8; Job 27:16-17).
A kind person is he who fellowship with the poor people and helps them in time of emergency.
The bible also says whoever love his brother in deed and true love God because God is love.
Jesus riches belong to the poor and that mean poverty has no more power and dominion over his word because his word abide in their heart.
Jesus said if you remain in me, and my words remain with you, whatever you ask shall be done for you (John 15:7).
For you to remain in Christ and in his word to remain in you, you have to obey Jesus' commandments: Love God above all things and your neighbors as yourselves.
Record in your heart: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue and those who love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Therefore if you love Life you shall eat the fruit thereof.
What Jesus and Paul has said, you says it: For me it is more blessing to give than to receive; I do not forget kindness and fellowship with the poor; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased; I am able and willing to give and share my abundance with others. [Proverbs 18:21; Matthew 16:19; 18:18-20; Mark 11:22-26].
THE TITHES?
How about tithes are we require to tithes to provide all the needs of the Leaders or are not we require to tithes at all today?
Lets open the book of Malachi chapter 1, God is speaking to "you", the Priest.
Verse 6, God is mad with 'you", the priest who has forsaken the Lord's name by offer polluted bread upon God's altar and offer a blind animal and lame and sick animals and that is evil.
Verse 14, The Lord is still mad with "you", the priest and he curse them
Chapter 2 of Malachi, God again talking to "you" the priest, he said, this commandments is for you. and if you don't obey and will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, .... I will send curses upon you, and I will curse your blessings.
Verse 9 the priest have been partial in the law and verse 8 have caused many to stumble at the law; and corrupted the covenant of Levi ....
Verse 17, "You", the priest has wearing the Lord with your words by saying, Every one who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and he delights in such; or , Where is the God who judges righteous judgment?
Malachi 3:1-5, God respond back to "you" the priests, and he let know that he will send his messenger and he will judge the Priests, for "you" sons of Jacob have not departed from your iniquities.. He is referring the priests are sons of Jacob who has gone astray from God's ordinances and have not obeyed them.
Malachi 3:8-10, here God ask the priests the question and said to them "you" have defrauded me with tithes and offering.
In the book of Nehemiah 13:1-13 it gives us detail what actually happen in Malachi for God was angry with the priests.
The prophet Nehemiah was not in Jerusalem at that time when a Priest decided to built for Tobiah a chamber in the court of the house of the Lord where they formerly put the meal offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels containing the tithes of the grain, the wine, and the oil, which were commanded to be given to the Levites and the singers and the porters, and the offerings for the priests.
And because of this evil, the portions of the Levites had not been given them, the Levites and the singers and they that did the work had fled every one to his field.
In the thirty-second year of the Artakhshist king of Babylon, the Prophet Nehemiah came to the king and after certain days, he asked leave of the king and he came to Jerusalem and he understood the evil that Artakhshist did for Tobiah in preparing for him a chamber in the court of God [in the storehouse], where formerly put the meal offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels containing the tithes of the people that were brought for the Levites ....
Because of all these evil deed that the priest did, it grieves Nehemiah exceedingly; so he threw all the household stuff of Tobiah out into the street, outside the court.
And he commands and they cleansed the court and he brought back thither the vessels of the house of the Lord, with the meal offerings and the frankincense.
He also learn the portion of the Levites were not given to them and that they fled to their own field.
Then Nehemiah contended with the chiefs and said, why is the house of the Lord forsaken? And he gather all of them together and set them in their place, and then all the Jews brought the tithe unto the treasures.
Nehemiah appointed in charge over the storehouse new treasurers, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren, and the portion of the Levites then were giving to them [Nehemiah 13:1-31; Malachi 2:7-9; 3:7-9].
In Malachi, God is saying to the Israelite son of Jacob, "You", the priests have not departed from your iniquities and have defraud me with the tithes and offering.
"You", are curse with curses, therefore the Lord said to "You", "bring all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be food in my house, and prove me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, and I will open the windows of heaven for "You" and pour out blessing for "You" until "You" shall say it is enough."
According to the book of Number the people of Israel brought the tithes and offering but they were not allow to get near the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they die [Number 18:22].
Nehemiah Chapter 10 verse 38 it is the levites who are to bring the tithe of the tithes into the storehouse.
Nehemiah Chapter 12 verse 44 only certain people who were appointed over the chambers of the king's storehouse to gather the the offering, the first fruits, and the tithes of the town [of the people of the town] and bring it into the storehouses ....
Here God is saying to Malachi priests, "You" have not departed from iniquities and "You" have defrauding me with the tithes and offering therefore he commands "You" to bring all the tithes [they have stolen from God] into his storehouse that there may be food in his house, God says to "You" to prove him on this, and then he will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings until "You" shall say it is enough.
Again who is "You" that the scripture mention about and commanded by God to bring the tithes into the storehouse?
Malachi chapters 1 and chapter 2, tell us, 'you' are the priests.
But before we continue lets refresh our spiritual mind with the Old Testament scripture of what the tithes was and for what reason it was use for.
The scripture tell us that Moses spoke to the People of Israel saying to them that God command them to bring all the tithes (food) to the house of God once a year, and the tithes should be given to the Levite.
Here all farmers of Israel were commanded by God to bring all the tithes to the house of God but it does not says into the storehouse.
The tithe were from Israelites farmers who earned a livelihood from farming and herding inside the holy land and the increase came from God.
All of these increase were brought to the house of God once a year.
According to the law any other increase from their own hands like crafts and skills were not require to tithe products and money.
There were different kinds of tithes:
The first tithe was called, "Levitical tithe", and this tithe did not go to the priests at all but to the Levites who were the servants of the priest, and it was not the best tenth given to the Levites [Numbers 18:21-24, 25-28; Leviticus 27:33; Nehemiah 10:37,38].
The second tithe was called, "Priest tithe", and this tithe was giving to them by the Levis, from the tenth of all the tithes that the Levis has received from the people of Israel.
The Levis gave the tenth of it to the Priest, the best tenth of all the tithe that was giving to the Levis by the people of Israel [Number 18:25-28].
Again, Once the tithe is given to the Levis what they receive they gave the best to the priest and the priest were expected to give freewill vow offering but not tithe [Malachi 1:13-14].
The third tithe was called, "feast tithe", and this tithe during the three years festivals were eaten by worshipers in the streets of Jerusalem [Deuteronomy 12:1-19; 14:22-26].
The fouth tithe was called, "the poor tithe", and this tithe was brought to the towns at the end of the third year to feed the poor [Deuteronomy 14:28,29; 26:12,13].
The Lord commanded also at the end of the third year which is the year of Tithing, they should bring the tenth of the tithes and lay it up within their towns, and the Levites and the sojourner, and the orphan, and the widow, and the poor who are within the towns shall come and shall eat and be filled and satisfied and what is left, to give it to all the people of Israel and they all shall eat it before the Lord.
And year by year the tithes were to be brought to the place where God choose to set his name and there they will eat it before the Lord, (Exodus 23:14-16; Deuteronomy 12:5-7; 14:17-19; 14:22-29; 26:12-14; 2 Chronicles 31:5-10).
The scripture said the people of all country towns brought the first fruits to the priests and the tithes of the ground to the Levites and the Levites took the tithes of tithes to the house of God, to the storehouse, into the treasure house, and the Priests, the Levites, the porters, and the guards shall not forsake the house of our God.
And those who took the first fruits and the tithe of the ground were not allow to own land and properties [Nehemiah 10:35-39; Number 18:18-20,23].
The bible also said all the Tithe of the Land whether of the seed of the land or the fruit of the trees is the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.
And if a man wishes to redeem some of the tithes, he shall add to it a fifth part thereof (20%).
And all the tithe of the herds or the flock, even of whatever passes under the shepherd's staff, the tenth shall be holy to the Lord.
According to history of the Israelite people not all of the tithe that have passed through the shepherd's staff were good, there were bad one as well but all of them were holy to the Lord.
Remember that it was the seed and the fruit of the trees and the animals on the land [FOOD] that were called tithes and not money [Leviticus 27:30-34].
The tithes were giving to the Levites and never to the priest.
From the tithes the Levites gave one tenth [1%] part of it to Aaron the priest and to his Sons.
Some tithes were also giving to the officers and servants too.
And they were required to eat it there before the Lord yearly .
The tithe of gain, wine, oil, animals, anything which the people vow, their freewill offering and gift offering of their hands was brought and eaten at the place which the Lord God has choose (Leviticus 27:30,31; Numbers 18:21-32; Deuteronomy 12:17-19; 14:22-29; 26:12,13; 2 Chronicles 31:3,6; 1 Samuel 8:15).
Now that we have refresh our spiritual mind with this input information again and lets us come back again to the book of Malachi.
The scripture said, God was the one who told Malachi to says to "You", to bring all the tithes into his storehouse that there may be food [meat] in his storehouse.
'You' the priest stole the tithes and therefore, there were no food in the storehouse for the levites and for the rest of the Israelites people.
The people brought their tithe to Levitical cities where the levites and the priest were and the levites took the tithe of the tithes of the towns and brought it to the storehouse [Nehemiah 10:35-39; 12:44].
But something happen in the storehouse when the Lord said, "You" have defrauded me.
God continue to use a pronoun word "You" indicating he is still speaking to the son of Jacob, the priests.
God was mad at the priests for despising his name, for offering polluted bread, for offering blind, lame, and sick animals to the altar.
God curse them and he is not going to accepted an offering from their hands.
The priests defrauded God, the priests rob the tithes and the offering, the priests took for himself the best of the tithes and offering, and offer pollute bread, and blind, lame and sick animals to the altar, the priest did evil in the sight of God.
In Malachi 2:1,2 again God still is using the Pronoun word "You" [indicating he is speaking to the priests], and he is commanding the priests to lay it to heart to give him glory and to obey his saying and if not then God will curse their blessings.
Malachi 2:8,9,13, "You" [priests], corrupted the covenant of the Levi and have partially kept the law and have cover the altar of the Lord with tear, with weeping, and with groaning because he does not consider "Your" [the priests] offering anymore or accept the offering with good will at "Your" [priests] hands.
Malachi 2:17, the priests have wearing the Lord with "Your" words.
"You" says, Every one who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and he delight in such; or Where is the God who judges righteous judgments?
In Malachi 3:5-10 God said, I will come to you for judgment and I will judge you of your sins, for defrauding the laborer of his wages, the strangers, the orphans, the widow, and those who turn aside him who turn to me, and do not fear the Lord.
In verse 6: the sons of Jacob here is referring to the priests ['You'].
You [priests] must depart from your sin, but if you do not depart from your sin then I will judge you, I am the Lord God, I change not.
God is commanded them to return to him, obey his command, depart from their iniquities, lay it to heart to give glory to to his name, and to bring all the tithes into his storehouse that there may be food [not money] in my storehouse.
Malachi 2:2,3 God is going to curse their blessings and what's the blessings God is going to curse?
Verse 3 tell us what's the blessing: the seed of the ground that bring forth fruits, he will allow the devourer to destroy the fruits and cast the fruits before the time in the field and it is the Lord who will rebuke or curse if they don't obey his voice neither lay it to the heart to give glory to his name.
In the Old Covenant God gave the law to the Israelite to listen and to obey, the Lord God set before them life and death, blessings and cursing; and if they choose life, both them and their children will life, but if they choose death, both them and their children will surely die.
Read Malachi 3:10, Here God had already cursed them; and verse 11, the Lord is willing to bless them again, but first they have to bring all the tithe into the storehouse and then the Lord will rebuke the devourer, so that it shall not destroy the fruits of the land; neither shall their vines cast its fruit before the time in the field, says the Lord of hosts.
They needing to departed from sin, lay it to the heart to give glory to his name and bring back the tithes they have defrauded from him, and then the Lord will pour out blessings again.
Malachi 3:13-15 God says, "Your" words have been grieving me, when "you" said, we serve God in vain, ...... and "you" [priests] tempt me.
Here the Lord God is saying 'you' [priests] continue to do this, your word have been grieving me and tempting me since the beginning.
Malachi 2:17, God is provoked. 'You' have wearing me with 'your' words, and the Lord God is saying to the priests he is getting tire of your word?
It seem the priests had a bad habit in provoking and wearing the Lord with vain words, and without any fear they dare to question his judgment.
Therefore we can see from the beginning of the book of Malachi to the end of chapter three, the Lord was continually speaking to "You", referring to the priests and never to the people of Israel, they were the one who has been grieving him and tempted the LORD GOD from the beginning to the end.
Observe the word of God, he spoke to "You", the priest, Malachi chapter 1 and 2 the priests offer polluted bread, lame, blind and sick animals, offering taken by violence, upon the altar, for this reason the Lord is cursing their blessings for not obeying his commandments [Malachi 1:6-8, 12-14; Malachi 2:1-5].
Malachi chapter 2:8 the prophet speak and say to "You", the priest, ..... You have corrupted the covenant of the Levi [the covenant of God is with the Levi see verse 4].
The priests have stolen from them the tithes and now they don't have nothing to eat so they fled back to their own field.
Now, Malachi chapter 2 verse 9 God is again talking to "You", the priest and he said to them, God made them contemptible and humiliated them before all the people because the priests have not kept the ordinances, but have been partial in the law.
Malachi chapter 3 verse 6-7, and chapter 1 and 2 referred to "You" the priest, and he continue speaking to them by calling them sons of Jacob, for the priests were sons of Jacob.
Verse 6-7 referring to "You", the priests, God said unto them, you have not departed from you iniquity [what iniquity they have done see above chapter 1 and chapter 2].
Even from the days of your fathers you have gone astray from my ordinances and have not obeyed them. ....
Chapter 2:6-8, 12-14 and chapter 3:1-5, 8-9 "You", priests show they have not obeyed God commandments, they have not kept the ordinances.
Chapter 3:7-8 is still talking to the priests who has polluted the bread by offering polluted animals on the altar and stealing the tithes that belong to the Levi.
The priests have done this and again chapter 3 verse 14, God continue saying to "You" priests, You have said, we have serve God in vain; what we profited that we have kept his ordinances and that we walk meekly before the Lord of hosts?
The priests did not kept God ordinance and therefore chapter 3 verse 7-8 is talking to the priests.
Again here the "You", the priests did not repented of their iniquity but continue to provoke God.
Words the priests said that grievous the Lord chapter 3 verses 13-15:
We have serve God in vain; and what we profited that we have kept his ordinances and that we walk meekly before the Lord of hosts?
And henceforth, we call the wicked blessed; yea, they that work wickedness are well established; they tempt God, and yet they are delivered.
Word that the priest said, that wearing the Lord see Chapter 2 verse 17.
On verse 17, the first sentence said, "You", referring to the priests, have wearing the Lord with your words.
... in that "you" say, Everyone of you who do evil is good in the slight of the Lord, and he delights in such; or Where is the God who judges righteous judgments?
Such weariness has cause God to be grievous that he said, in chapter 2:2-3 God said, I will send curses upon you, and I will curse your blessings,...
verse 3, tell you what he is cursing: Behold I will rebuke the seed of the ground ....
When you look chapter 3 verse 9 said they are cursed with curses and in verse 10-11 God says, after they bring the tithes into the storehouse then he will pour out blessings for them until they say, it is enough.
See the Lord of hosts have curses their seed for not obeying his voice, but once they obey and bring the tithes into the storehouse then he will open the window of heaven and pour out blessings for you ...
What is the window of heaven it is rain this is God's blessing he will pour out from heaven, eliminated the devourer from destroying the fruits of the land is God's blessing and not allowing the vine cast it fruits before the time in the field is God's blessing .
All of this blessings were curse in chapter 2 but in chapter 3 God is willing to pour out blessings if they keep the ordinances and keep his commandments.
Since the beginning it has been known that the Levites would take the tithes from all the country towns and bring up the tithe of the tithes to the storehouse, to the chamber, into the treasures house [into the storeroom of the treasury].
Malachi 3:10, God said, "Bring all the tithes ('food'), into the storehouse, that there may be food in his house."
"Food, for who?."
For the Levites, and the singers and for them who did the work there [Nehemiah 13:10].
Look on Exodus 23:14-16; Deuteronomy 12:5-7; 14:22-29; 26:12-14; and 2 Chronicles 31:5-10, those chapters and verses tell us the tithes was giving to the Levite, to the sojourner, to the orphan, to the widow, and to the poor who are within the towns [Nehemiah 13:1-13; Malachi 2:2; 3:10].
The book of Malachi 3:10 it says, God will open the windows of heaven for them and pour out blessings for them until they shall says, it is enough.
Where else in the scripture speak about windows of heaven that pour out blessing?
Genesis 7:11 tell us the windows of heaven open and pour out rain.
Genesis 8:2 tell us the windows of heaven were close and the rain from the sky was restrained.
Deuteronomy 28:12 tell us, the Lord shall open to you his good storehouse, the heaven [windows of heaven] to give you rain to your land in its season; and he will bless the works of your hands; ...
Rain is the blessing that God is pouring out from heaven and God will rebuke the devourer, so that it shall not destroy the fruits of the land, neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, says, the Lord of hosts [Malachi 3:11].
What is the devourer?
Amos 4:1-10 it tell us what is the devourer, they are plagues and they devour the fruit of the gardens and vineyards.
Psalm 78:40-48 and Psalm 105:31-35 it also tell us the devourer God sent it to do his will, to destroy the vines, fig tree and all other trees of the ground, to eat up all the herbs, and devour all the fruits of the ground.
God is saying to the priest to bring his tithes to the storehouses and then he will rebuke the devourer for their sakes, he shall not destroy the fruits of their ground, neither shall their vine cast her fruit before time in the field.
In the book of Leviticus 26:4,5, it said, "... I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
And your threshing shall last to the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last to the the sowing time; and you shall eat the bread to the full and dwell in your land safety.
God shall bless their bread and their water; and he will take sickness away for their houses.
There shall nothing cast their young nor be barren in their land; the number of their days God will fulfill (Exodus 23:25,26).
Rain is what was lacking in the priests' land, the devourer was destroying the fruits of the land, and the vine cast its fruit before the time, but hearkening to the voice of the Lord God, the Lord God will open the window of heaven and pour out a blessings, until they shall say, It is enough [that there shall not be room enough to receive it], and God will rebuke the devourer so it will not destroyed the fruits of the land neither the vine cast its fruit before the time, says the Lord of hosts.
Remember the Levites and the priests in those days were farmers.
They were raising livestocks that were given to them as tithe and the tree gave fruit and the ground reap all kind of herbs and vegetables.
Remember the tithes were giving to the Levites and the Levites gave one percent to the priests, the priest receive their tithes of livestocks as well fruits of the ground.
God told all the Israelite farmers if they are willing and obedient then God shall bless their bread and water and they shall eat the bread to the full, they shall eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1:19).
All Israelite farmers were told by God to honor him with the substance and with the first fruits of all the crops; so shall their barns will be filled with plenty, and their wine presses shall burst out with new wine (Proverbs 3:9,10).
Not only were they told to tithes from their livestock and crops but they were told to obey the whole law of Moses and without obeying the whole law of Moses their tithes would have been of no benefit to them and God would have not blessed them at all.
This is not an example for the New Testament believer living under grace to follow.
If you believe in tithing then you are obligated to obey the whole law of Moses, you can't take tithes and exclude the whole law, the whole law of Moses and tithes goes together without one and the other you can not be blessed.
The scripture said in Deuteronomy 30:19-20, the only way for the Israelite people to enter into the promise land was by them loving first the Lord God and obeying his voice and cleaving to him, and to choose life and not death.
God set before them life and death, blessings and cursings; God told them to choose life, that both them and their descendants may live.
Those word were given to the people of Israel before they entering into the promise land, they were the one who suppose to keep and obey the law and that is if they wanted to enter into the promise land, if not then they are cursed and have no life in them.
Secondly, the Israelites people were told as soon as they enter and posses the promise land from all the increase of the lands, the increase of the crops and livestock, they were commanded to bring the tithes, for it belongs and it is holy to the Lord; this is the commandments which the Lord commanded Moses for the children of Israel [for the Jews only] in mount Sinai [Leviticus 27:30-34].
If the farmer wanted their lands to be blessed, then all the country towns were to bring the tithes to the Levites, the priest shall be with the Levites when the Levites take the tithes, the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes to the house of God, to the chambers, into the treasure house [storehouse] and people were not to forsaken the house of God.
In book of Malachi, the people of Israel were not the one who rob the storehouse of God, but the priests, the priests were the one who were gone away from God's ordinances, and have not kept them, they have not kept his ways, but have been partial in the law, and has cause many to stumble at the law.
Remember in the book of Nehemiah 13:1-31, the evil that Eliashib [a priest] did for Tobiah in preparing for him a chamber in the court of God [in the storehouse], where formerly put the meal offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels containing the tithes of the people that were brought for the Levites was not there....
The tithes of the people were not in the storehouse because Eliashib took it out, this is why God said to the priests, "Return unto me, and I will return unto you", for you have rob me, in tithes and offerings, and you are cursed with a curse for robbing me.
The priests had broken the law and had corrupted the covenant of Levi.
The priests had rob the meal offering and the first fruit of grain or corn, wine, oil, wood and dough, and the tithes of all the increase of the land [Leviticus 6:14-23; Deuteronomy 18:3-5; Deuteronomy 14:23 Nehemiah 10:34,37,39; Nehemiah 13:12]
The Lord rebuke them and said to them, Bring all the tithes into my storehouse, that there may be meat [food or meal] in my house ...
There were no meat [food or meal] in the treasures, and the portion of the Levites were not given to them, so they fled to their own field.
Nehemiah gathered them together and set them in their place. Then all the Jews brought the tithe of the grain and the wine and the oil to the storehouses [treasures], And Nehemiah appointed in charge of the storehouses, new treasurers and their office was to distribute unto their brethren.
Here again shows that the Jews brought the tithes to the storehouses, and Nehemiah appointed in charge of the storehouse new treasurers, and the people by lot selected them as leaders over their brethren, and their office was to distribute the tithes unto their brethren [Nehemiah 10:35-39; 13:1-31; Malachi 2:7-9; 3:7-9].
But thanks God that we are no longer living under the law, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law, therefore we are no longer enslave to the curse of the law because we are free from the bondage of it and that include freedom from the bondage of the law of tithing.
It is sad to say that today in our generation Christian who live under grace tithe without knowing that tithe was a requirement under the law only for the Israelites people from the increase of the crops and animals in the lands, but those who are responsible of collecting your tithes have forgotten God's law.
They have forgotten what was tithes and for what purpose the tithes was use for.
If you do not know that God's law of tithing was food only and food was brought by the Israelites people as a requirement of Moses' Law, but never as a new covenant law for the New Testament believers who are living under grace, if you don't know this truth then that mean you have been deceived or perhaps you have not been informed the whole true of the gospel.
Today people are still following the law of tithing, tithes without turning it into food and those who receive your tithes of money use it for the wrong reason, to pay bills and the leaders' salary, when Moses never instructed the Israelites people anything about this.
The tithes was never money to begin with, the Levite and the priest in the Old Testament never receive any money as tithes but food.
The bible teaches us that tithes [food] was giving to the Levites and never to the priest, but the Levites gave one tenth [1%] of their tithes to the priest and the priest gave gift offering voluntarily.
Today people bring their tithes [money] to their church and the church use it for material things.
God did not instruct the Israelites with their tithes to pay all the material things for the Levites and the Priests, no, no, brothers, you can not find any scripture that will says something like this.
And those who are responsible of collecting your tithes never tell you the truth because the truth is not in them.
Leaders, you who are keeping the church members ignorant, under control, and blind of the truth, you will have to an answer to God someday.
Christians don't have any idea of the deception of the leaders.
Moreover tithes were never use to gain interest.
Food was never store to sale it or to exchange them for money, no brother, that is not scriptures truth either.
This is why when Jesus enter into the temple of God, he cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves.
And he said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
These people had the courage to take the crops and livestocks and sell it in the temple for profit interest, they were money minded and because of the love of money they became thieves and Jesus did not like it at all, this is why he overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves.
There are people who think the reason the Jews brought food as tithes because there were no money in those day, but we just finished reading what Jesus did in the temple of God, he overthrew the tables of the moneychangers.
Jesus told peter go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours [Matthew 17:27]."
Jesus says, when the judge hand you over to the officer, and thrown you into prison.you will not get out until you have paid the last penny [Matthew 5:25,26.
Jesus saw a poor widow come and putting money into the temple treasury; this poor widow put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. [Mark 12:41,42].
When Jesus sent his disciples to preach the gospel he told them, "Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses [Matthew 10:9].
Jesus said, Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? [Matthew 10:29]
Jesus spoke about a man who hire labourers into his vineyard for a penny a day [Matthew 20:1,2].
Jesus was tempted by the hypocrites religious in his time, if it is lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
But Jesus said to them shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's [Matthew 22:16-21].
Judas Iscariot, deliver Jesus for thirty pieces of silver {Matthew 26:14,15].
In the Old testament we have Abraham was rich in gold and silver [Genesis 13:2].
Abimelech gave to Sarah brother a thousand pieces of silver [Genesis.20:15,16].
Abraham hearken unto Ephron deal of the field located in Machpelah and he bought the land for the weighted of four hundred shekels of silver [Genesis 23:12-18].
Jacob brought a piece of land for a hundred pieces of money [Genesis 33:18,19].
Joseph brother sold him to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt [Genesis 37:28].
Joseph gave orders to fill their bags with grain and to restore every man's money in his sack [Genesis 42:25].
David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver [2 Samuel 24:24].
Jeremiah accept to buy the field of Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver [Jeremiah 32:9-12].
All this scriptures shows there were money transaction and people use money but they did not use it to pay tithes because tithe was not money.
In the beginning God said to Moses to instructs Israel to tithes from the seed of the land and from the fruits of all the trees, and the tenth part of all the increase of animals in the field.
Money was not mentioned in any of God's law except when the way is too long for a person to carry it; because the place where he suppose to bring it is too far from him; God permit him to exchange it for money, but as soon he arrive at the place where he suppose to bring the tithes he is to buy with the money oxen or sheep or wine or strong drink or whatever he desire; for him to eat it there before the Lord; He is to buy food and food was brought and was eaten before the Lord [Deuteronomy 14:22-29].
Crops and livestocks were tithes and were brought to the temple for the levites, the sojourner, the orphan, the widow, and the poor who are within the towns for them to eat all of them before the Lord but never to sell it, nor to gain interest, no brother that is not scripture truth.
The Israelites Farmers in those days knew every tenth animals that pass under the shepherd's rod was holy to the Lord.
One to nine animals belongs to the people, but the number ten was the tithes (Food) that belongs to God; and the count continue eleven to nineteen belongs to the people, but the number twenty was the tithes that belong to God and so on ...
Remember again brothers, in the Old Testament the tithes of all increase were brought once a year [not every week nor every month], and each year the Levite take the tithes and gave one tenth of it to the priest.
But at the end of the third years by year the people of Israel brought the tithes to their towns and there the people gather together to eat all the food before the Lord in that same year (Deuteronomy 26:12-14).
Food was the tithes they brought and eaten all.
Now there are people who say that the law of tithing were ordain for rich farmer and not for all the people of Israel, but that is not true, back then the law of tithing was a requirement for all Israelites people who have land or lands that produced crops: seed, vegetables, and fruit of the trees; and an increase of livestock, they were commanded to tithes of all their increase, it does not matter if the people were very very rich or not.
Remember when the children of Israel enter into the promise land, they all took possession of land and all of those lands or land that produce an increase the people were commanded to tithe.
If a person has an increase of 12 animals, the tenth of it will be one animal and that one animal belong to God, but if he has an increase of 20 animals then the tenth of it that belong to God is two animals, but if he has an increase of 9 animals, then the tenth of it that belong to God is zero (none), only the tenth of it belong to the Lord.
As long they had less than 10 animals they were not require by God to tithes.
So, therefore, those who had land or lands and did not produce more than 10 animals in that same year didn't tithe.
But again if they have an increase of 10 animals or more then they were require to tithes.
If the person decided to sow vegetables and fruits then from the increase of the crop they were to tithes.
Moses commanded all Israelites people, not some of them, but all of them that when they enter into the promise land and their land produce the first fruits it is holy to the Lord, and they were to bring it to the priest, and year by year they were told to bring the tithe from their land and give it to the Levites.
But today the leaders teach that the law of tithing apply for us today and that we are suppose to tithes from the gross income and not from the net income or else we are robbing God.
It sound so good to believe it, but this teaching is not a biblical commandment of the Lord Jesus Christ for the New Testament Christians neither it was a law of Moses for the farmer Israelites to follow.
The church has no obligation to give tithes from their gross income pay check.
You don't have to give ten precept of your gross income as tithes to any ministers or any leaders of a church for them to spent it on expensive and luxury cars, houses, boats. brand new airplane for their personal use, neither for any bills payment; no, brothers that is not scripture truth.
But unfortunately, the worries, and the love of money and the pride of materials things has blinded men to their own perdition.
Today money and worldly covetousness and the pride of materials things has cause blindness in the church and have become an important agenda in the church today and they don't want anymore to be led by spirit of truth.
The love of money has blinded men and have turned them against God.
Men who call themselves servants of God are now the enemy of God whom mind and belly are corrupted with worries and worldly covetousness and with lies of the devil.
They are robbing all the money of the people in order to satisfy their greediness and selfish souls.
And its makes the collection of tithes before the eyes of the whole wide world a fast money business.
Unfortunately people who take your tithes continue to believe that they are doing the right thing before the eyes of the Lord; they don't have fear neither have any ideas the harm they are causing to the ministry and to the gospel of Christ.
The church of God has been instructed falsely.
Leaders are taken advantage of people and they are getting away with their tithe money.
People are convince, manipulate and in many cases control with guilt of condemnation if they don't give their tithes.
After they have control their mind with guilt, condemnation and manipulation, out of fear they gives their money of tithe into their ministry then later these leaders dare to come up to the altar and testify how much the Lord has blessed them.
Meanwhile these poor people of God are going through tough time and trying to survive with their minimal salary which they get paid each week, for they can't even pay their own debts, neither can they put dinner on the table for their family to eat, this is not right, for sure something is wrong with this teaching.
And all of this collection of tithes have robe family to live a normal life.
Any leaders who does not preach and teach the whole true of the gospel are liars, wolves dress like lamb, vessels of the devil caught in his trap and are about to fall into the deep pit of hell, sons of Satan, their eternal reward is reserved for them in hell for ever.
Why should the poor people of God suffer needs while leaders are enjoying a good life with the tithes money and the gift offering the people cast into the treasury?
This is is not right and they will have to give an account to God someday.
Those who collect your tithes have the courage to justify themselves by saying, "You have to understand we have needs and we are living in a different generation where many things (not food) that are necessary for us are so expensive, and the offering alone does not cover all the cost and for that reason, money of the tithes are collected to cover the difference and to provide all our needs."
Listen you liar hard headed, son of the devil, the tithe was never money to begin with, and the money you collect as tithes is money you have defraud from the people of God, and that means you are defrauding God too, soon or later God will execute his judgment upon you for robbing his people money.
Listen people we are no longer living under the law but under grace and we are free from anything that enslave us to bondage, we are redeemed from the curse of the law through Christ Jesus, therefore you are not obligating to tithe at all.
Under grace means to be under the law of Christ Jesus, and his new commandment is to love one another, man is to obey his new law if he wants to become his disciples [John 13:34-35].
After Jesus rose from the dead, a new covenant replace [obsolete] the old covenant and since then Jesus' new commandment became the believers new law through the Spirit, and now this new law [Christ's New Commandment] is put in our inward parts, and it is written in our hearts, for love is the fulfilling of the law and cover multitude of sins [Jeremiah 31:31-33; Romans 13:10; 1 Hebrews 8:6-13; Peter 4:8].
Lets come back and focus in the tithe, people who said the ten percent of the income is a tithes are in an error.
People who says the opposite of what the scripture says, are coward, afraid to walk by faith, for they don't want to depend on God anymore, neither do they wants to suffer for the sake of his name, they just want to live an easy wealthy life, full of riches.
These people have no feeling of regret of the damage and harm they have caused and still causing in the church.
They are devilish and selfishness people who seek first after those things that benefit them, they are not interesting to suffer for Christ and pay the price for preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Some people thinks, the kingdom of God is offering and tithes you give.
That is an error too.
Paul said the kingdom of God is not meat and drink [another word it is not "food", tithes is not including], but joy and peace and righteousness in the Holy Ghost.
Jesus said to the poor people who did not have any food, drink and cloths, not to worry for nothing, he knows they need these things but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and then God will supply all their need according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ [Matthew 6:33].
Food, drink and cloths is the last things God wants you to worry about, his main purpose is for you to focus on him and obey his saying and then the rest he will take care of it for you.
Jesus know that people has needs but still he does not wants them to have their mind on worldly thing.
Jesus does not wants the believers to seek first the lust of the body, the covetousness of the eyes and the pride of materials things; no, brother, he wants his children to seek him first and obey his saying, and then he will provide those things you need.
If you love worldly things then you are an adulterers and an enemy of God (James 4:4; 1 John 2:15).
Leaders, don't use the tithes money for your worldly gain.
Neither twist God law of tithes for a lie.
If tithes was a requirement for the people who are under grace then you are not obeying God's word and you are robbing God's people and you are cursed with curses for defrauded God's people.
The tithes was food for all the people of Israel to eat it before the Lord.
Where is the tithes you suppose to give to the sojourners, orphans, and to the poor people and where is the rest of the tithes you suppose to give it for all the people of God for them to eat it before the Lord?
And finally where is the sacrificial you suppose to do for the people and all others requirement stated in the law of Moses?
Soon or later you leaders will have to give an account to God for lying to the people.
May God have mercy on your disobedient souls.
For those who believe that Christians living under grace should be informed of not tithing money, I say to you if you go to a church that believe in tithing, for the sake of the gospel and for the sake of his name don't cause problem in any church.
If you do not believe in tithing then don't tithes, but don't make the topic of tithes a ring of argument and fight, but instead keep yourselves away from foolish dispute.
Be at peace with God and with men, and if you are led by God to give a tenth part of your salary as a gift offering to God then give it not by force, neither by obligation, but willingly because the Lord love a cheerful giver.
Brother and Sister in the Lord don't cause problem in the church, and if you feel that the church needs to be corrected, don't be swift using the rod, but bring your request to the Lord and wait on him, wait for God to open a door for you in his perfect time.
God's right time will light up and shine and he will reveal to all of them the truth of the gospel and that very truth will set them free.
Meanwhile wait for the Lord and let the Spirit guide you.
Keep yourselves from foolish dispute.
If you are able and willing to give a tenth part of your salary as a gift offering to God to help the needs of the church and the needs of the people of God do it.
Know this brethren giving gift offering is good and it is the right things to do before the eyes of God and men.
By given a gift offering you are showing God how much you really love him.
Give with appreciation and with thanksgiving to God for all the things he has done for you, and for blessing you, this is good and acceptable before God.
Again the tenth parts of your salary that you are giving as a gift offering is to help to provide the needs of the saints and the needs of the house of God.
An good example of giving an offering is Abel, he was not force by any law of God and man to bring an offering to the Lord, but from the abundance and kindness of Abel's heart, he came to the Lord to present an offering before him.
God saw Abel's offering and he was please and he accept it.
Remember Abel's offering was meat and his brother offering was fruits and both offering were food and not money, but Abel's offering pleases God more than Cain's offering, because Cain offering were done without love and his works were evil [1 John 3:12].
Here is not talking about tithes but offering, this offering was offered to God before Moses's Law of tithes was established.
This verse has nothing to do with tithes but offering and we, the body of Christ, should have a generous heart to give an offering to God.
Now if all of these words does not move you to offer a gift offering to the Lord, then ask God what is the right thing to do according to his word.
But again don't cause any argument or fight in the body of Christ, neither reject any person who believe in tithing.
God timing is the right time to speak the word of God openly, as you ought to speak, without any fear.
It is with patient that you will teach and discipline gently and perhaps God will grant them repentance and they will know the truth and come to themselves and be saved from the trap of Satan, by whom they have been drawn to his will (1 Timothy 2:22-26).
Remember the devil' deception is to trap people of God's mind and keep them ignorant, confuse, blind and deceive of the true.
The devil likes to control people's mind, but we are smarter than him, don't give the devil a chance.
Leaders who take the tithes and don't help the poor people and overlook justice and God's love.
Your lies and your injustice and your careless love are worst than the Pharisees.
Jesus says to the Pharisees, "woe to you Pharisees! who take tithes of mint and dill and every kind of vegetable, but overlook justice and the love of God.
These were necessary for you to have done, the very one by means to have been left undone."
(Translated according to George M. Lamsa Holy Bible From The Ancient Eastern Manuscript Luke 11:42).
In the King James Version Bible it says, "woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe ........."
Matthew 23:23 it said, Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe
Whether the translation is "who take" or "who tithe or pay tithe", the point is under the law food was the tithes that was required to bring once a year.
Lets use the King James Version Bible, the Scribes and the Pharisees pay the tithes.
It does not said they pay the tithe with money, no, no brothers it doesn't says it like that, but they pay the tithes of mint, dill and every kind of garden herb (food).
But sadly to says the Pharisees lacked justice.
They forgot to do the right things before the Lord.
They were not willing to love their neighbor in deed and in true.
They did not have any desire to help the people of God.
You see in Jesus time the tithe was practice because it was a requirement of the Law, but after he die and rose from the dead a new covenant was established and since then we no longer have to live under the law but under grace.
You, leaders are worst than the Pharisees.
At least the Pharisees paid or gave tithes of food which was a requirement under the law, but you have the boldness to twist the word of God for a lie by saying to the New Testament Christian who are living under grace they are demanded by Jesus Christ to tithes and if they don't tithes from their weekly gross income then they are robbing God and cursed with curses.
People without any knowledge accept your error words and because of fear that they might be robbing God they tithes weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, which is the opposite of how tithes were collected, once a year.
The People of Israel brought their tithes every year and in some cases every three or six years.
After Jesus Christ rose from the dead and the Spirit of God came to abide in our heart since that day forward Christians Gentiles were never told by the Apostles to tithes.
We are not force to tithes.
Leaders who teaches falsely and hid the truth, soon or late if they don't change their evil ways: slyness and deception; the Lord will come to them one day when they don't expected him to come and the Lord will reward them according to their deeds.
The word of God said, Receive discipline and not silver; and choose for yourself knowledge rather than fine gold (Don't love the world: do not be a lover of material things).
For wisdom is much better than fine gold; yea, she is better than precious stones, and nothing can be compared to her (Proverbs 3:13-18; 8:1-3,6-13).
Leaders who rob the people tithes, to use it for their personal gain, repent before is to late.
Be careful what you do with the people money and don't end up being cursed with curses for robbing them, just the same way the priest defrauded God in the Old testament with the people's tithes ["food"].
Leaders deceive the people with the story of Jacob, you said, that Jacob promise to God that he will gives to God the tenth of all that God gives to him, and you use this story to convince the people who are under grace that God required of them to tithes from everything too.
But that is not what the bible is saying here to us today.
The bible says, Jacob was sent by his father Isaac to the house of Bethuel his mother's father and take for himself a wife from there of the daughters of Laba his mother's brother.
Jacob went to Padan-aram, and he arrived at a certain place, and spent the night there because the sun was set, and he took of the stones of the place, and put them for his pillow, and lay down in that place to sleep and he dreamed, and behold a ladder was set upon the earth, and top of it reach to heaven and behold the angels of God were ascending and descending on it; God spoke to him about the land where he was lying, God says to him the land on which he lie, God will give it to him and to his descendents and his descendants will multiple and spread around the world and in Jacob and his descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
God says, he is with him and will keep him wherever he goes, and will will bring him back to this land; for God will not leave him until God has done what he has promise him.
.
After he had finished talking to him, Jacob woke up from the dream, and he said, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it."
And because he was afraid he said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven."
So Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on it top.
And called the name of that place Bethel; then Jacob made a vow saying [it does not says he prophesy], "If God will be with me and will protect me in this way that I go, and will give me food to eat and clothing to wear so that I may return to my father’s house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God; And this stone which I have set up for a pillar shall be God’s house and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give a tenth to thee."
Here show that God did not commands nor require Jacob to tithes.
Jacob made a vow, a conditional pledge between God and him.
The "If" word show it is a conditional pledge, "If", God does everything he asks, then the Lord shall be his God and whatever God give him he will surely give a tenth, Jacob's vow is not a mosaic law of tithing nor it is a new covenant law of Jesus Christ, no, no brothers.
None is an example for us to follow.
Why people have problem understanding Jacob's vow [his conditional pledge] and God's command [God's law].
If Jacob is an example to follow, imagine a believers prayer the same prayer to God, if you give me this and you give me that and if bring me back from this place to my home save then you will be my God. But if you do not then you are not my God, but again, if you do give me all of this and that and bring back home save then you are my God and everything you give me surely I will give a tenth.
What kind of praying is that? It sound like a person who is desperate and for sure he does not even trust the Lord God.
It is a prayer of full of doubt, words that will never receive any of the Lord.
No, bother, Jacob conditional vow is not an example for us the New Testament believers who are living under grace to follow.
There is no record of Jacob ever giving the Lord a tenth of all that God had giving him.
To teach the reason why the scripture does not have any record of Jacob ever tithing is because Jacob at that time was just prophesying about the future, is an error.
To teach Jacob prophesy that after the people of Israel enter into the promise land, they will give to the Lord the tenth of all that God shalt give them is not scriptural.
I will repeat again to teach that Jacob saying, "of all that God gives me I will surely give a tenth to thee", that this actually means, of all that God shall give the people of Israel under the mosaic law, the people of Israel will surely give a tenth to God, is an error.
The truth is that Jacob's vow was made to God and not Israel to God.
Jacob's vow was a conditional pledge between God and him and it has nothing to do with the Mosaic's law nor with the new covenant of Jesus Christ.
The law of tithing was a commands of God to the people of Israel to hearken it and to obey it, it does not says, the people of Israel hearken to a vow made by Jacob, no brother, but to God's law.
Therefore Jacob's vow was between God and him, and it did not involve the children of Israel; it did not involve the Old covenant law of Moses, nor the new covenant law of Jesus Christ. (Genesis 28:22).
Leaders, you also use the book of Hebrews to point out that the tithes is still a required of the Lord for all Christians.
But the book of Hebrew 7:2-24 speak about Jesus Christ who is a perfect man who has made a better covenant and with a better hope by which men are draw near to God.
The book of Hebrew speak about Melchizedek the high priest of God who Abraham gave the tenth part of the tithes from the spoil of war, and the Levi who receive the office of priesthood were authorized by law to receive tithe also gave tithes, but these priests were not perfect priests, and a change needing to be made in the law.
And the story here has nothing to do with tithe, but a man who would rise after the order of Melchizedek and this man is greater than Melchizedek, a perfect man who will be appointed not after the law of canal commandments but after the power of life which abides for ever, a priest for ever and he will bring hope to the people and through him, the people will be draw near to God and this man is Jesus Christ.
For the Law was weak and useless and made nothing perfect but Jesus place a better hope, which the believers are draw to the Father.
Jesus has a priesthood which remain for ever and have made a better covenant for he is surety.
The message of the book of Hebrew speak about a man who is pure, without evil, and undefiled, far away from sin, and this man is made higher than the heavens, Jesus Christ is the perfect man who is appointed a high priest for evermore.
The book of Hebrew 7:2-24 does not teach nor does it exhort nor does it commands nor does it require the New Testament Christian who are living under grace to tithes.
How about when Jesus was temped by the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words: if is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.
People quote this verse and say, here Jesus himself commanded to tithe.
Jesus did not mentioned the word tithe in any of these verses, he just answer their question about tribute, if it should be giving to Caesar, or not.
Now, if Jesus was talking about tithe, then tithe was Mosaic's law for the Jews to obey, but the Jew did not needing to remind them the Mosaic's law of tithing, because they knew already that tithes is an obligation to all the people of Israel.
If Jesus was referring here to tithe then Jesus was just quoting the law of Moses for he is not a law breaker.
But again, Jesus was not referring to tithe but tribute, he was just answering their question, and history shows that in those days the Jews use to paid each year taxes to Caesar and the Jews use to paid half shekel for the support of the temple each year too; here again tribute money was given for the support of the temple and this money was never known as tithe.
This tribute money was collected around the month of March or April.
As you already know food according to the law of Moses was the tithes that the people of Israel brought to the Levitates, but Jesus was only talking about giving tribute money what belong to Caesar and what belong to God.
Some people like to mention Paul and they said Well Paul talk about tithes.
That quote is an error too, in the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 9 verses 4-19, Paul mentioned that a person who preach the gospel has the right to eat and drink too, ... see verse 4-7.
Including the law was said for our sake because God is concern on us.
If a person preach the gospel and have sown spiritual things in the live of the brethren then the preacher should reap material thing from the brethren too.
And Paul gave an example, those who work in the holy place are maintained out of the temple and likewise those who ministered at the altar share the offering of the altar.
Even the Lord has said, those who preach his gospel should live by his gospel.
But look what Paul said to the brethren in Corinth, Nevertheless, we have not used this authority, but we have endured all things so that we would not hinder the gospel of Christ.
I quote what Paul said, But I have used none of these privilege, neither have I writing these things that it should be so done to me; for it were better for me to die, than that any man should declared my empty pride.
Listen the words of Paul, he said, for I preach the gospel I have nothing to glory of for I am under obligation; yea, woe to me if I preach not the gospel.
Paul continue saying, in verse 17, For if I do this thing willingly, I have my reward;...
Verse 18: What is my reward then? this is it, when I preach the gospel of Jesus Christ I do it without charge, that I abuse not the power given to me in the gospel.
Take all this written of Paul and lets put it in short and simple word.
Paul make clear he was just letting the church know the man who preach the gospel has the right to eat and drink and it is a command of the Lord.
But Paul did not wrote this for Corinth to do so unto him, neither did he use any of this privileges nor did he use the power given to him in the gospel to do so unto him nor did he abuse it, for he prefer to die than to have them supply his empty pride, the reason is , because he did not wanted to hider the gospel of Christ.
Paul tell his brethren in his days, he preach the gospel of Jesus Christ because he is under obligation, and he does it willingly in order to get his reward, and what is his reward?
Paul speaking to all preachers or ministers of God our reward is this, when we preach the gospel of Jesus Christ we do it without charge or thoughts of recompense for the purpose to serve all men that we might gain many.
Paul preached the gospel of Jesus Christ for free and should be in the mind of all preachers and all who ministered in the church.
Therefore Paul was not teaching tithes, contrary he was teaching to live by faith. trust God, this is a hard word for someone to follow but this is the gospel truth, God will provide you.
Do not charge people but let the people generously provide you the things you need only, and if they do then this kind of giving is called sharing or gift but never tithes.
2 Corinthians chapter 8 verse 12 Paul in the church of Corinth he speak of giving as a gift.
2 Corinthians chapter 9 verses 5-12 he speak of giving and sowing generously.
2 Corinthians chapter 11 verse 9 Paul speak of supplied his need.
Philippians chapter 4 verses 10-15 Paul speak of care for him and share with him.
Verse 16 Paul speak of sharing with him and caring for him is a gift giving by the brethren, it is collected willingly when you have a gift to give but not to burden anyone when they can not give, and .
1 Corinthians chapter 9 verses 4-19, The right to eat and drink, and he who preach his gospel shall live by his gospel.
This right of the preachers and all ministers, is for the brethren to share and care for them, the bodies of Christ can give them gift to help them supplied their need only, but again this has nothing to do with tithes, but gift and it is giving in generosity manner [sow generously].
But this caring or sharing is a blessing gift and it should never be force by anyone to give it, for Paul himself said, we should not hinder the gospel of Jesus Christ, for the reward which is wager of a preacher is to preach the gospel without any charge, it is a free gospel not for any man to do it with thought of recompense [1 Corinthians 9:18].
Preachers receive gift that has been given to them willingly and cheerfully and with a generously heart by the brethren.
What the brethren has decided in his mind what to gives, they can give it cheerfully and generously, not of necessity nor by force.
The believers can give and supply the need of the preachers and all the ministers of God when they have gift to give and their gift will be acceptable [2 Corinthians 8 verse 12], and welcome as a fragrant perfume and a sacrifice acceptable and well pleasing to the Lord [Philippians chapter 4 verse 18].
Therefore, again I said, caring and sharing supply to provide the need of a preacher is a Gift and not tithes.
Leaders remember robbing people money is like robbing God too, because Jesus said to his disciples, whoever gives a drink to one of these little ones, if only a cup of cold water, in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall never lose his reward (Matthew 10:42).
In Matthew 25:31-40 Jesus continue saying, .... you gave me food, .... you gave me drink, .... you took me in, .... you clothed me, .... you visit me when I was sick, .... you came to me when I was in prison; .... if you have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.
Jesus said, whoever receives you receives me; whoever receive me receive him who sent me (Matthew 10:40).
Therefore if you are robbing God's people you are robbing God as well, it is a fearful thing to fall in the hands of the Lord (Malachi 3:8-11; Deuteronomy 14:17-19; 14:22-29; 26:12-14; 2 Chronicles 31:5-10).
Jesus said in Luke 18:12, don't imitate the way of the Pharisee who prayed and exalt himself and despised every other man.
For they think they are better than other man; they fast twice a week, and give tithes of all that they possess. (tithes is not money but food and food of all that they possessed).
Remember the Pharisees pay tithe of mint, and anise, and cummin, and rue and every kind of garden herb sown and reap in their backyard; food of all that they possessed were paid or gave as tithe [Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42].
I can hear someone say, you see the law of tithe was in effect in Jesus Christ days.
The law of tithes was in effect in Jesus Christ days because he was still living under the law and he did not die yet on the cross.
And Jesus Christ did not came to break the law but to fulfill it, all Israelite in his days were required to obey the law of Moses that include the law of tithing ['food'].
Lets continue reading the scripture on Luke 18:12, a sinner who stand far off, and who would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner, will go down to his house more righteous than the Pharisee.
Remember that tithes is food and not money.
So be careful lest you be found to be an unrighteous man, and cursed with curses for robbing God's people money.
Today I have fulfilled my part in warning you; and you have no excuse before the Lord, it is up to you if you want to change your wrong ways and flee from the lust of the world ['material things' or 'Mammon'] before is too late.
BACK TO OFFERING
When I said offering I am speaking about alms, gift, and donation that was brought by the people of God and were collected and used for:
- 1. To provide the needs of the Leaders.
- 2. To provide the materials needs of the building
- 3. To provide the needs of he believers.
- 4. To provide the needs of the poor.
- 5. Any other emergency needs as well
In the Old Testament the people of God where the one who build and make bricks burn with fire and bricks of stone, an slime for mortar to build the houses and towel and the temple of God without any charge.
The king and the people of Israel were the one who supply all these things (Genesis 11:1-4; 2 Samuel 7:4-7; 1 King chapter 7 and 8).
An example of this is Cyrus, a man who did not know the Jehovah God, but God knew him and called him by his name before he was born.
God gave him the treasures that was hidden in darkness, and the buried riches of the secret places so that Cyrus may know that God is the God of Israel.
And God commanded Cyrus to build his city and to send his exiles back, no for a price nor for a bride, says the Lord of Hosts.
Cyrus build the Lord's city as God has commanded him without any price nor for a bride (Isaiah 45:1-13; Ezra 1-11; 6:1-15).
Who help build the house of the Lord?
The people of Israel help to build the house of the Lord and whoever remain in any place where he sojourns, the men of Israel help him with Silver and with Gold and with the Goods and with the Beasts, together with the freewill offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem (Ezra 1:4).
Those who return back from the captivity to Jerusalem and Judah the number them were not countable and some of the chiefs of the fathers were full of wealth and riches and they brought with them to the house of the Lord and gave to the treasury of the work sixty-one thousand drams of Gold and five thousand pounds of Silver and one hundred priests' garments.
The people not only help one another to built the city of the Lord with their hands, but they also gave from their abundance and provided the needs of the house of the Lord (Ezra 2:1-70).
Another man by the name of Solomon after Israel came out from Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the mouth of May, which is the second month, Solomon began to build the house of the Lord.
And Solomon built the house and after seven years in building it, was the house finished.
And he took thirty years to build his own house and to finish it too.
And the temple and the house were beautifully adorned with gold and with other adornments and with the help and the work of their hands the people of Israel build the temple of God, for God to dwell in it and abide in it for ever (1 Kings chapter 7, 8, and 9).
We have also Moses who called Bezal'e-el and A-ho'li-ab who heart the Lord had put wisdom, and even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it.
And Moses gave them offering which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, to make it withal.
And they brought yet unto him free offering every morning until Moses gave the commandment, and proclaimed throughout the camp, saying Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary.
So the people were restrained from bringing because the people have already brought much more than enough for the service of the work, which the Lord commanded to make.
And at the end of chapter 39, verse 43: Moses did look upon all the work, and behold, they have done it as the Lord had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them.
When Jesus was looking at the rich people who were casting their offering into the treasury, … some men were talking about the temple because they were amaze that it was adorned with beautiful stones made by the hands of the people of Israel and with gift offering collected by them too (Luke 21:1-6).
The point here is that the Leader of the people has the responsibility to built and the people of God has the obligation too in helping each other working very hard to finish it.
We all have the obligation to bring alms and adorned the temple with our offering, just the same way they did back then by King and the people of Israel.
The apostle Paul knew about all of these things and in the book of Acts 24:17,18, it tell us that the apostle Paul came to his own people to distribute alms and to present an offering and to purify himself in the temple.
Therefore the alms and the offering that you cast into the treasury where brought by the people to supply the people need and the need of the house of God.
Remember it is through the people's donation and alms that every need was met.
When the bible says, "God will 'supply' all your need", that does not mean that God will make you rich and wealthy and the bank loaded with money, no brother, it mean that God will provide all your needs; only needs God provide.
God will never supply you with things you don't need for your lavish life, no brother, but God supply for things that you really "need".
If you lack food, lack clothes, and need a job to pay your all your bills, all of these things are called "need" and the scripture says, God will supply all your need according to his riches in the glory of Jesus Christ.
Remember the priority here is not a wall of a building where we gather together to worship God, but the people, for they are the building, the temple of God, the church of Jesus Christ.
Never put the walls of a building first over your brother needs or wants.
Don't put a fee and charge with interest on anything your brother needs, but help them by providing those things they need without any fee and without any charge and the Lord God who see all your good deeds will reward you.
The people are the real church, the temple and the building created for good works: to care and to help one another in a time of emergency and hard time.
Those who labor for the Lord including the poor people have the right to ask the church to supply their needs, but never to supply for their lavish life.
Supply should be divided equally in the body of Christ (2 Corinthians 8:12-15).
God love a cheerful giver who gives with a generous heart full of love, just like this man, whom name was Cornelius, a Centurion of the regiment which is called the Italian, who fear God, a righteous man who gave alms to the people abundantly, God heard his prayer, and his alms came up for a memorial before the Lord (Acts 10:1-48).
If you want to please God and you want God to hear your prayer then fear him and become a good giver and then your alms will come up for a memorial before God and he will bless you abundantly so you can give more.
A servant of a centurion who was seriously sick who needing to be healed, the disciples told Jesus about him that he was a good man who love the Israel people and that he has done good thing in building them a synagogue and Jesus hearing this and seeing that he was worthy to have this done for him, spoke the word and heal his servant that same hour (Luke 7:1-11).
Any person whether it be a Evangelist or a teacher or an apostle or a prophet or a pastor or a sister or a brother or a neighbor can bring their alms or offering to the man of God and he should given it to every man according to his needs (Acts 3:1-26; 4:1-35).
God gave us the Spirit of Love to bear the burden of the weak and to care and help them, we must put it into practice daily.
When Paul says, "…for your sakes Jesus Christ became poor, so that you, through his poverty might be rich."
He was not talking about making a minister rich and wealthy while the rest of the church is going through tough situation and no one to care to help them.
Christ's riches is our heritage equally.
Paul has teaching us in all his epistle to have love for your brother and to give your life for them.
And if you have abundance and can help then do it cheerfully and you will have treasures in heaven.
Do not have preference with any brothers, don't treat a brother better than other, but be just.
Gives according to their needs (2 Corinthians 8:9-14; 9:6-14).
Do good to all men especially to those who belong to the household of faith (Galatians 6:10).
God love a cheerfully and generously giver and his generosity enables him to perfect thanksgiving to God and God will make all goodness abound to him, so that he always have enough of everything for himself, and also that he may abound in every good work.
As it is written, He has distributed liberally, and gives to the poor (it does not say he give it to one person to make him greedily wealthy, no brother it doesn't say that); and his righteousness endures for ever.
The manifestation of the Spirit teach people how to give and care for one another.
The manifestation of the Spirit has five assignments in the body of Christ and they are there for the perfecting of the saints, for the works of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ; these five assignments in the church they are: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers.
Any other assignments created and is not base on the scripture should be rejected.
When Jesus rose from the dead and appear to his disciples, he says unto them, I am sending you, go, therefore, into all the world, and preach the gospels to every creature and baptize them in the name of the father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And teach them to obey everything that I have commanded you.
The sending into all the world to preach the gospels to every creature was a commands of Jesus to his disciples.
The disciples who went to preach the gospel to every creature were called apostles.
Today people who are sent to all the world to preach the gospels to every creatures and to establish churches are called "Missionary."
Did Christ's disciples who went into all the world to preach the gospel to every creatures were called "Missionary" or "Apostles?"
According to Paul, apostle is an assignments by the Spirit.
The apostles were assigned by the Spirit to travels to all the world and preach to every creatures and to establish churches and nourish them in the Lord, until a Pastor is assigned, with the character of an elder according to Paul writing to the churches, in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:6-16.
This day we don't hear much about the assignment of "Apostle" because it has been replaced with "Missionary."
Missionary are sent to preach and teach the gospel to other country and to establish churches, but these Missionary remain there as Pastors.
Missionary travels thousands miles to come to USA to gather offering from every churches they visit to in order to supplies the needs of the poor people in this other part of the world.
The churches collect offering before the Missionary arrive, and when they have arrived the churches handle the offering to them.
But now what will happen when a Missionary is not satisfy with the offering you gave them and they ask the church for more?
What do you do in this situation, would you collect again another offering?
Would your Pastor allow the Missionary to collect two offering for the same purpose to supplies extra needs?
Does the scripture teach us to allow Missionary to use encouraging and convincing word in the church to motivate members to give a second offering for an extra needs?
Is this the right things for a Missionary to do in church and for the Pastor to allow it to happen?
Right now, in this days that we are living many people in many different parts of the world are suffering, but lets us be wise as a serpent, and humble as a dove in dealing with this situation, don't give the devil any chance in your life to use it against you to destroy your testimony.
Don't give a reason for people to point a finger at you.
In my opinion, trust the Lord and take what they give you and don't add a burden to any brothers, and the offering that you receive in your hands receive it with appreciation and with thanksgiving unto God, for he provide those things the people needs whether it be little or much, just be grateful and keep yourselves away from the lust of material things of this world.
Apostle Paul taught the church not to put a burden on any man who can't give and if there is a man that can give then give according as he purposeth in his heart with a generous heart, and do not give by force or grudgingly [under compulsion] or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver and will cause the fruits of your righteousness to grow and you will be enriched in everything, in all liberally; for such generosity enables you to perfect thanksgiving to God.
For the administration of this services not only supplies the wants of the saints, but also it is made abundant by many thanksgiving to God (2 Corinthians 9:5-15).
Your generosity are made abundant (sufficient and enough) by many thanksgiving to God, and also it enables you to perfect thanksgiving to God."
Paul expect that none of us give by force or under compulsion and if any man give under compulsion God will not accepted.
Jesus wants all of us to "Give" to every one who asks … Just as you want men to do to you, do to them likewise.
Jesus also said, Lend and do not cut off any man's hope; so your reward will increase and you will become sons of the Highest; for he is gracious to the wicked and the cruel.
Be therefore merciful as your Father also is merciful.
Interesting to know that your reward will increase and you will become sons of the Highest by being a generous givers and by lending to anyone that borrow from you.
That is how God is going to measure you with the same measure you have measure to other.
This is what the Apostle Paul and the Lord Jesus Christ is trying to teach to the church to love in deed and in truth.
In 2 Corinthians 8:12-15 Paul said, "He who gather little had no lack", because he's a giver and walk in God's perfect love.
But remember again, never ever give by force or by compulsion because God will not accepted it.
The message of given offering and alms has become a big problem in the world today because of false teaching and false prophet.
We all are call to close the mouth of the lions that misleading the church of God into error, and we are to put an end to their devilish lies.
Should We Ask For An Offering?
If a brother does not have any need or wants can he go to the house of God and ask for money to use it for whatsoever he desires?
No, brother, you don’t have any right whatsoever to ask for an offering.
The Father of heaven want you to give offering for the necessity of the people.
To ask offering for amiss and for anything you don't really need should not be provided.
Offering are to provide emergency needs only.
You may says, "why should I give offering if this offering is not for me, but for the needs of the poor people?"
If you don't have any want, then you don't need it; and if you are blessed with abundance then you should be grateful that God has kept you healthy and alive.
Ask yourselves this question: Where would I be if it wasn't for the mercy of God?
If it was not for the mercy of God you would not have been alive to see this day, because it is God who prolong your life and gives you all things so abundantly for your comfort (1 timothy 6:17-19).
We give because the word of God says to give.
Jesus Christ said, "It is more blessing to give than to receive" (Act 20:35).
Jesus said, give to every one who asks you and lend and do not cut off any man's hope. [Luke 6:27-38]
Jesus said, just as you want men to do to you, do to them likewise.
Jesus said, whoever has two shirts, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise (Luke 3:11).
Jesus wants us to become rich in the things of God (Luke 12:33).
Jesus is saying to you rich if you wish to be perfect, then sell your possessions and give all the alms to the poor…(Matthew 19:21).
Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul wants us to give offering or alms, for they are use for the wants of the brethren, for the necessity of the poor, and for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Lord expect each one of us to be ready to give and willing to share, to lay up for ourselves a treasure in heaven, where neither rust nor moth destroys and where thieves do not break through and steal.
For where our treasure is, there also is our heart (Matthew 6:19-21).
Please God is your Giving.
Become a giver and then when the day comes that you don't have anything and are in need and you begin to look for the Lord for help and you cry out loud to him, the Lord said that he will hear you prayer and delivery you out of all your trouble [Psalm 34:17-19; Proverbs 21:13; Luke 6:38].
If you remain with Jesus Christ and his word remain with you, then you will love your brothers and loving your brothers is the same as loving God and whatever you ask will be given unto you (John 15:7).
The bible teaches us that whoever have worldly goods and see his brother in need and shut his mercy from him, how can the love of God dwell in him?" (1 John 3:14,17).
Again any person who love his brother love God (1 John 3:14).
Love in good time and in bad time.
Once you abide in God's love and do them then you have fulfill the law of God and his love will cover a multitude of sins. (Roman 13:10; 2 Peter 4:8).
Therefore brethren, 'Think Big' by giving and helping your brothers in the time of emergency and this deeds that you do will prove to God that you love him above all things with all of your heart, soul, might, and mind.
May God the Father give you peace and rest and eternal life in heaven through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
